Any of you guys have a nemesis at work?

I have genuinely become the nemesis at work atm, for a few people at least, I know it's wrong but I've been taking out some of my personal frustrations on the staff, recently giving up alcohol probably hasn't helped tbh, but that's still no excuse.

Hopefully I won't be holding this title for much longer though, it's such a horrible feeling having a go at someone when you know your in the wrong and they accept it, I tip my hat to their civility, they are better people than I.

Exactly. I know a girl who is thin, really pretty, ridiculously smart and a genuinely good hearted person. She is so self consious and has so many insecurities that I'm just completely stunned. It's amazing to me how much she puts herself down.

I bet she doesn't even see you at all the way you think she does.

No shes not quite THAT thin. Now i've thought about it, I think she's actually doing it for attention. As soon as she grabs two fingersfull of her non existent flat and goes "look" everyone else in the office (there are only 8 of us) goes "Oh don't be silly, you arent fat" so I guess shes getting the response she wants. :rolleyes:
 
I don't have a nemesis, but I have a rival. Overall I'm better than she is, but only just, and I'm prone to making stupid mistakes on a frequent basis, so she normally comes out looking better. She had to phone another lab recently though, and ask whether the 0.9% saline was "normal saline" for a dilution, so that'll stay with her for a while :p
 
Old place i did - he was more of a group nemesis though. The only person who spoke to him was my manager, because he signed him up against the recommendations of our senior engineers which naturally got their backs up etc. Led to a terrible environment and i eventually left for greener pastures :)
 
I've had a few over the years. Two no longer work for the company and another works elsewhere now.

Two of them tried to get me in trouble (separately) but ended up dropping themselves in as I had insisted on full change control which meant I was fully covered and had a documentation trail to prove what had been asked for.

Wouldn’t worry about it, similar woman in another department where I work. Consistently going on about her image, and its quite thin and IMO needs to gain a few pounds.

Everyone knows, and this is true that most guys like a lass with a bit of curve on them, and you don’t get curves by being stick thin…

Just ignore the bint, that’ll annoy her more then you saying anything.

I’ve got a guy I work with, his attitude is disgraceful, and he thinks he’s well above anyone else, and is so condescending. Smarmy git as well, always polite to important folks, rude as he can be to anyone else, and some of the rubbish he talks about. I have to work with my back faced to him, but I hear his conversations. Appalling how he feels he can take advantage of what he claims simple people, and reckons anyone on the benefits system should be shot… Oh I could go on, but he’s just a classic example of an ignorant and arrogant **** that I could do well without knowing.

I just ignore him, he doesn’t’ speak to me much and I never speak to him unless he speaks to me first, and then I make it as brief as possible.

Not really, they either back down or we chat and settle any issues. Never lasted long, I perservere as I'm pretty bloody minded, but I refuse to let things like that get to me. I either deal with the problem, or put myself into a situation where the problem no longer affects me.
 
Where all in the same department it seems. My nemsis is quite rude (not too bad), is very ignorant and arragont. She makes a big deal out of nothing and isn't satisfied till she gets here own way. She always tries to pass her work onto others and makes out that she is so busy she is virtually running the company single handedly.
I've learnt to just bob your head and move along. (ipod helps) It's only when I feel she's crossed a line do I step in and say shut ****!

Fully star out swear words!
 
I used to have this problem, I worked with a bloke who I hated who took a disliking to me for no reason and could get away with giving me grief because it was always in work and I never saw him out of work, i'm a patient person but this guy started pushing it to far saying things like "i'm going to sleep with you girlfriend" (she worked win the same building and he used to chat her up all the time) and then he went on to be my manager, it was a good 7 years ago and theres a fair bit more to it than that but it got to the point where I had to hand my notice in because I started to think about what I was going to do to him and sooner or later it would have happened, not healthy really, so I walked. I really dont know what i'd do if I saw him now, it wouldnt be pleasent for passers by thats fairly certain

OT but isn't a nemesis an agent of rightful retribution, ie to have one you'd have to be in the wrong and started it?
