Bristol Airport parking

I have visited Bristol airport twice. Much nicer then heathrow, but why did they built it there.

During WW2 it was an RAF training centre for training pilots in fog flying - it does get very foggy up there!

The big plan was that the airfield at Filton would be developed into a passenger airport but the Aerospace companies never left and so the current airport just grew organically.

I usually just lump the car in the long-stay, it's as simple as whacking the credit card into the barrier on entry and exit.

I went away for a weekend (Fri morning - Mon afternoon) and it worked out at about £40.

It's then only a couple of minutes to walk to the terminal entrance.

I used to work for the car parks at Bristol - Silver Zone is usually where you get put when you book through an agency, it's a block parking service where you have to leave your keys and your car is parked for you, good shuttle service - it's just on the other side of the airfield.

Not the last 3 times I've used it it hasn't been (last was in May 2009). Find a space yourself, park up, hand keys in at hut. Pick up car from the place you left it when you get back.

I've never even though about using public transport to get to an airport as it is just a pain.

Yeah thats true, but they block park it whilst you're away, bumper to bumper, wing to wing - Otherwise why else would you need to hand your keys in?
