What do you eat for lunch at work?

It's amazing hom much cash you spend on lunches when you add it all up over the week/month. I try to make food at home to bring into work *ahem* or the gf does I should say; you save a small fortune and usually eat better too.
Work out the savings and think what you could spend the cash on instead, I know I do. ;)

Aye its quite worrying to be honest. In my last job I started off by buying meals at work which was around £3.50/4 per day with a drink, so over a month thats £70 in a month. Compare that then to the price of bringing in your own coffee and packed lunch which is just less than £15 per month lol. Crazy really!

Suppose it does depend on where you work though as I know from experience that some places don't have a large enough fridge for the amount of staff they have or people steal food and drinks from each other :S

I'll check whats on offer in the work canteen (free) or I'll pop over to Baguette du monde and have one of their meal deals, usually A ham salad baguette with fruit or crisps and a can or bottled water (£2.45)

Porridge with whey protein powder and some fruit or 4x slices of wheat germ hovis, toasted with cottage cheese and fruit or sometimes leftover rice dish from night before.

Cost is no more than £1.50 either way

Varies a lot and I don't have a lunch break per se, I just eat as and when I'm hungry.

Often some wholemeal pittas filled to bursting with spinach, ham/chicken/eggs/tuna/beef anything).

Or

Some left over chilli/mince/dish of some kind from dinner (with veg and sometimes pasta)

And

Jacket potato with some sort of filling

Or

Pasta dish

Or

A big power salad (spinach/rocket/lardons/eggs/bacon/chicken/pine nuts/olive oil etc....)

And

2 or 3 pieces of fruit

and

unsalted mixed nut selection (approx 100g).

and

1/2 tub of yoghurt

9/10 it's made at home but sometimes will go to my local cafe which does very good quality food. It's anywhere between 1500-1800 cals on average. Lots of protein, low GI carbs, good fats and just generally tasty good! :D

Take food from home sandwiches sometimes tuna and cucumber or bbq chicken and mayo or sometimes ham. On friday I usually have lasagna though.

Monday - Weds sainsbury/boots or leftovers/home made something.

Thursday - Subway footlong Italian Brooklyn Manhatten Transit

Friday - KFC Fully Loaded Box (Tower Up) - trying to cut these out!

Mon & Thurs - Tesco sammiches.

Tues & Fri - XL Bacon Cheeseburger meal super'ed.

I'm off on Wednesdays, so it's usually a big bag of Haribo Starmix.

mon-fri make a sub roll full of turkey letuce onion and nandos hot sauce or bbq peri peri sauce.

sat is a subway, foot long tikka/bacon/lettuce/onion/bbq sauce.

I have baguette for £3 from a sandwich shop, or a chicken pie from a shop at the station, or i have full english breakfast from this polish run cafe with all day breakfast, or i have mexican burito (bit expensive at £5.45), mcdonalds, or pasta and a roll from m&s or I have beef meal from a place called fuzzys crub where you can get full sunday dinner in take away form, costs £5.50.

A couple of thick sliced Hovis wholemeal chicken/turkey sandwiches overfilled with various sorts of leaf salad, plus a bit of Branston, if I'm feeling daring.

Works for me.
