**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Really enjoying this on multiplayer, first game I've got into for ages. One quick q on the ladder system though - I'm sitting at the top of bronze and always playing players who are "evenly matched" but they never seem to appear in my ladder. Is this because they're at the bottom of silver or are they on a different bronze league? Can I see the ladder above me or is it only possible to see the details for the one you're in? Sorry that was 2 questions! :)

There are a lot of different ladders at each level (bronze, silver etc)

I'd personally prefer it was one huge ladder but Activision Blizzard want players to feel more engaged with their progress and ladder positions. Being first in Bronze may feel more encouraging to a lot of players compared to being 7,685th out of 14,000.

(Random numbers used not meant to imply anything other than being lost in a huge sea fo numbers.)

I'd prefer knowing the 'real' position in a huge ladder though. Which some third party sites now provide although not really sure how accurate they are.

ever since i got into plat I lost all my previous builds and now I loose all the time.

I go mmm Protoss I am a terran and that goes well.

but against zergs I loose all the time but all up to plat if I play zerg I'd win 99% of the time.

Also having a problem with terrans too.

So what's the tactics for TvZ and TvT?

Big problem for me against zerg is mutalisk, thor is too expensive and takes too long and mass viking is too expensive and long to make when zerg already has mass mutas.

TvZ ... easiest matchup for Terran imho.. All you need to do is go mech and you instant win. Hellions, Thor,Tank, and a small amount of marine/marauder will destroy anything.
Hellions for Zerglings
Thor for muta/general DPS
tanks for Roach/hydra
MM for taking the damage and general DPS.
don't forget to take some scv's with you for repairs! :)

Once you have your expansion, go for Planetary Fortress to prevent harassment, and mix in with a few vikings ready for when he goes broodlord.

TvT ... simple, just go for 1rax (reactor), 1 fax (tech), 1 sport (reactor)
then pump marines, tanks, vikings.
Then its just determind by your micro. put your marines just infront of your tank.. spread.. and use your vikings to scout out ahead, it will appear to give your tanks more vision/more range. If they leave deployed tanks unguarded, drop vikings on them, and when they un-deploy, move your forces in. i'll find you a replay :) I've won all my TvT's using this strat.

Thanks. So when I play someone "evenly matched" they're actually in a similar position to me on some other ladder that I can't see? I guess that's OK but it would just make it feel a bit more personal in terms of competition if I occasionally got to play the people on my own ladder!

Watching the intel extreme masters, the terrans are ripping it apart it's not even close.

A game I just saw with White-ra and TLO, and I think after that, if I start facing that sorta stuff on the ladder I'm going to have to change race :(

*Edit* Horrraay Huk managed to win one :)

TLO is probably going to win it. Flawless playing today. Shame about WhiteRa, he seems to be slumping recently. He's the only protoss that had a chance and now he's out. TvZ and TvTs galore from now on, going to be a dull tournament.

I don't think White-ra played that bad. I never knew how much the banshee owned protoss until now. I mean with the viking, marines and banshee tlo with a handful of units completely locked down white-ra's ramp in that second game.

The reaper play really whitewashed madfrog, I mean _literally_ there was nothing he could have done against it. I suspect TLO will probably even roll Idra. And with the utmost of respect to TLO who is 1000x a better player than I'd ever be, Idra is on a different planet of talent again. What can you do against the 4-5 different equally devastating openings Terran can choose from, each that have the same fundamental buildings but very different counters. It's like pot luck you get your counter right, and even if you do (as Madfrog did in that first game) often unless you're micro is ridiculous it's still not enough. (Again 'frogs awesome micro was for nothing in game 2 vs tlo).

If nothing else, I hope this tournament will light a fire under Blizzard to address balance.

I used to just send loads of them on a single gas, is that why some just sit outside the structure and do nothing then?

Kreeeee is your real ID the same as your MSN address? I saw you tell me to add you on the other page but I forgot!
