Last night at 3am I was woken by a crash and then a load of bangs. A local cat had come through my window, fallen into a carboard box that then fell over and was now under that smacking it into my speakers in an attempt to get out. Obviously at 3am I thought I was about to be savaged by a rapist rather than a cat.

I have woken up several times because this cat has been running around my room in the middle of the night, he gets in easily because there is a small roof under my window that slopes to a fence. I haven't got any other windows I can open, so in the interest of getting some sleep is there anything I can do to keep the cat away?

I can't close the window fully because then there is no ventilation and if I put it almost closed the cat still manages to get in!

Does it look like the cat in Hussman's sig? Could well be that the cat's posting suggestions that he/she knows won't work, or will find tasty. Just a thought.

Cats absolutely hate Orange peel. Put some fresh ones there every couple of days and it should stop it coming in.

We have two quotes of the day in this thread.

The one about being savaged by a cat and the other about taking a cats head off!

Awesome! ha ha

Made my day!

I saw this topic and immediately thought of this;

I had exactly this problem at university. Frightened the life out of me first time :p.

I solved it by loosely taping some cardboard half way up the window. The next time the cat tried to get in, it jumped on the cardboard which then collapsed. I assume it then stacked badly back down the roof, as it didn't try again :D.
