Ebay sale seems shady

Personally I wouldn't have allowed Paypal as there are a million and one ways to scam a seller with it.

As said above, make sure you write down the serial number, and send it tracked and signed for.

Even then there are still ways around this, I guess that's the chance you take.

shocked so many people think it's completely legit.

you sure? if say the buyer decides to take it apart to experiment, then breaks it and then says it was sent broken, surely op loses?

The easiest new ebayer scam is to claim it didn't arrive; proof of delivery makes life a lot easier!

If you have photos and proof of delivery, you're covered against most things, there is however one big one to look out for, the old 'cloned / stolen card scam'

I had a guy with 0 feedback buy an item off me for nearly £600, after looking at his recent history it was the 3rd item he'd bought in the last few hours, and although he paid immediately by Paypal I was too worried about fraud and refunded the money and relisted the item.

Checked a week letter, his account was frozen with -3 feedback from people that had Paypal chargebacks due to credit card fraud. Have a look at the guys recent history, if this is his only recent bid then I think you're probably in the clear.

If I was the buyer I'd be a bit annoyed I was paying for special delivery and yet it wouldn't be arriving for almost a week. If you had different rules for bidders with under a certain amount of feedback you should have stated that in the auction.

I put dispatch takes at least 2 working days on all my items. I need to get to a PO too and get packing materials. Not too easy when you work normal hours

If you are wary of first time bidders which I can fully understand, you should filter your listings so that only bidders with a feedback history can bid,you can specify required feedback and other criteria when you create the item listing.

On the Xbox auction you put 'Sends within 2 days', if I paid a tenner for delivery of nearly a week when you had clearly stated it would be posted within 2 days I'd certainly think about what feedback I'd be giving you, sorry! Especially if you'd sent me the kind of email you just sent that buyer. :)

Plus I also work 'normal' hours and I normally post at lunchtime or on a Saturday - if you time an auction to end on say a Thursday then you know you can normally post it on a Saturday morning as you will likely have been paid by then. People won't mind waiting though, but if you're saying you'll post it within 2 days and you don't then they will moan.

It's a tough one and no amount of thought or discussion will find out if the buyer is genuine. Saying that the item never arrived is a popular scam (had it happen to me) but I've read about another scam for recorded delivery where they say that the box was empty or had a brick in it.

Think I kinda agree here.

Yup, defiantly setting yourself up for negative feedback if you state 2 working days as the turnaround, but then delay for a whole week.

Although a person with zero feedback, may just be relieved that their first purchase on ebay actually arrived :p.

But if it does arrive after the birthday, they might be peeved.

I didnt write sends within 2 days. I selected it on the auction, whatever it is called. Its hell at lunch time in Leeds city PO, i went in before and had to wait an hour and a half to pay a bill! Again, its 2 working days. Anyway, if he doesnt want it ill happily give him a refund through paypal and not send it

Thread title should read "Shady eBay seller", all the darkness seems to be being cast by you.
Where is your good faith?
.....and try not to worry.

I dont trust anyone unless they earn my trust somehow. Maybe I dont have good faith, or it has been taken away by un-faithful people in the past (at least on the internet anyway)
