I don't - because it's not like people were shopping at D2D, wanted 2 games so put them in the basket, and ignored the popup saying they could add a 3rd game for free. They've actively chosen to go and buy games on D2D which isn't even the easiest / most popular place to buy games, it's not like they have to walk an extra mile to get to Steam or wherever.

I agree to some extent with your point about "who cares if something is £2.40 or £2.90?", I mean if you think about it if you really shop around and save yourself 50p, add up the time it's taken you and you might be lucky to earn the equivalent of minimum wage. I'm a bit of a sucker for a bargain (always ordering Advance train tickets online etc) which is a bit of a joke really because then I'll go in the local and buy a couple of pints at £3.60 each thus negating any saving I made anyway.

I have to be honest while i have never used D2D i make nearly all of my games purchases on steam. There are only a few games a year that I have to have when it comes out and i will happily pay a premium to be lazy and just download it there and then. For example i'm waiting for civV. I expect steam will sell it at the standard full price. I could pop into town on the way home from work but this will cost the same. I can't be bothered to find the best price online from someone like play and wait 2 days or whatever for it to come in the post.
 
I basically only ever buy digitally if a game is already out and I can't be bothered waiting until tomorrow. Why buy pre-orders digitally when you can buy them from certain places for cheaper and they arrive the day before release!
 
I bought Napoleon Total war from a highstreet online game shop for £12.99, steam wanted £25 I think.... I had to wait for the DVD to turn up but still it's a huge saving.
 
On a few key titles 3 or 4 max a year I would take a 10 quid hit just to get it asap on steam. Pay for it in the morning and it will be ready by the time i am home (i download at 2.4mb/sec so most games only take a few hours). I just have to remember to disabble hibernate which ****ed me off on SC2 release as i got home it had not downloaded and it was on peak hours when DL rate is throttled to fraction of that oops!

All othergames I don't really care when i get and just grab it on offer on steam, Mass Effect 2 was a good example of this.

I have never actually gone the pre-order route with online games retailers such as play which while cheaper I seem to have a paranoia my copy would get delayed somehow.

You're thinking of those key-selling sites.
D2D has its own deals with the publishers - you don't buy keys from D2D, you download the games from them, too.

I agree but Steam need to wisen up as 50% price difference is more than the £5 difference you have shown above. I've bought my last couple of games from the likes of play and hmv just because they have been soooo much cheaper than steam.
 
i purchased borderlands for my ps3 from a small local market stall mint in wrapper with cardboard sleeve for 17.50, local game store wanted 19.99 preowned in tatty box, PSN has dr neds zombie island DLC pack and only that one for 6.29 i bought it, days later steam annouces borderlands + all DLC for little over 13quid, it certainly pays to shop around especially for games, i bought the steam pack btw lol taking the ps3 copy down the town later and hope to make a tenner back :D

Well that's the whole point, isn't it? It might be too expensive for the likes of me or you, but there's obviously no shortage of people who are happy to hand over their money to Steam regardless of the inflated prices, otherwise they'd have gone out of business by now.

True although i buy all my newly released PC games freom HVM :p
I don't trust Pre-ordering anymore since, I've been messed around by nearly all companies.
 
Even gamestation has reduced there amount of PC games they have in stock over last 12 months :( My store used to have two stands deadicated to pc games... now its half a stand and half of them are games like "Master chess" and "Majong" :(
 
As above, Steam is just as crap for prices as other DD sites. I've got a ton of bargains from D2D that were overpriced at the time on Steam. Nothing wrong with D2D at all, and their setup overall is sound.
