I've only just found out that it has kart racing


WOW :D

Watched a video for it and the driver's movement when he's going round corners looks terrible. He's just sat there still even though he's powering round a corner. I know the seats hold you well but there is more movement than that!

Glad i'm using the cockpit view.
 
I have to agree with Paul here, I find cockpit so immersive. Driving in Bonnet cam is not the same as I can't see the actual working speedo, nor the wing mirrors etc. If I could I would generally turn the HUD off completely and rely upon internal instruments like in Race 07 on the PC!
 
You can transfer it over to the arcade mode, but not GT mode.

Well I guess that has some use. There's 830 cars I think in GT PSP, I only have just short of 100 of them but most of them are high value cars. Been playing for the last week and managed to bag 11M from driver challenges :eek:
 
it limits visibility so much, i usually prefer the bumper cam meself!

I quite enjoy it as I have a better feel for the car and for hitting lines and so on, as it's a position I'm use to driving in.

The thing that bugs the hell out of me is having no visibility around you (at least not easily, in Forza 3) and ending up with people crashing into you or pulling across into people because you can't see them.
 
Is this going to run in 1080p at 60 frames ? Or less ?

I wonder if the driving experience will be better than in Shift, where it is amazing

I only drive with cockpit view, it is so freaking immersive..

id expect it to be 720p at 60fps tbh as sony have said they would rather have 60fps at 720p than 30fps at 1080p.

the tuning shop looks cool, much better than the last few games, hopefully it'll be like gt1 with the crazy mitsi gto tuned to over 1000hp :D

Its 1080P at 60FPS confirmed many times, as was GT5P (well most of the time lol). One of the guys on gtplanet has translated some info about the tracks on GT5, http://i36.tinypic.com/206oaoo.jpg

Well they've claimed it, dunno if anyone has actually tested it, but It won't be constant that's for sure. And in 3D mode it'll be 720p max (obvs since thats what Sony is restricting it to, but then with much more processing to do it will take a considerable drop in performance). Here's hoping for a Digital Foundry mass 2D and 3D analysis on launch.
 
was it really 1080p at 60fps :eek: it never felt like it to me tbh, heres hoping the sense of speed is better then.

Sense of speed seems improved on some tracks. The ring is much narrower than on some games which highlights the speed.

As for ingame res.
The game pushes 1.5x 720p @ 1280x1080 with 2xAA

However aparently it offers 720p @ 4xAA and some menus/screens in game at full 1920x1080p with 0xAA
No word from Gamescon on confirmation of the 3D mode being 30 or 60fps as some rumours have suggested.
The Betarooms demo in 3D wasnt finished code which effectively could have ran dual 720p at 1/2 framerate.

Have you guys seen the new screenshots for "Upgrades"?

Also "Alba" will be uploading his videos from gamescon tomorrow which should be great with in-game audio.

Looks stunning... but...

Is it just me, or do the tree shadows not cast on the cars ? The reflections are fine, but as the cars go into the shade, their lighting doesn't seem to change :confused:

The graphics are the last thing you should worry about in a GT game.

Saying that, after watching it closely a second time, I see what you mean. Also, when he goes under the bridge, it isn't reflected on the roof of the car. Probably just down to it being an early build though.

Has the sound been improved since GT5P? the car sounds in GT5P was really bad imo and needed to be improved to add to the atmosphere.

The developers did say they had overhauled the sounds, yeah. Whether there's any truth to that only time will tell.
 
I hope they have improved it, it's not that they haven't had time to audio sample every car :) like you say time will tell, fingers x'd then.
 
Its all about the physics, is it bumper cars or a good half way house like forza managed or gt4 even.
I have my doubts it will exceed 355 challenge or gt4 for feel because most people wont buy it for this reason, its not a selling point you cant put it on the box.
It only makes a big difference 3 months after if the game is still worth playing or its time to buy the next big thing

I'll probably wait for gt6 on the ps4 :p
