Hi,

I have just purchased a 64GB Crucial C300 drive to run on my Gigabyte EP45-DS3P

I know I will be using SATA 2, but I will hve ACHI enabled.

How do I get TRIM working. I will be using Windows 7 64BIT.

Any other advice?

Thanks

Thanks...

Is their anything else I need to do?

Should i notice a difference in speed when booting system, compared to my WD Eco Drive (even though I am using SATA II port).

Thanks

Enable ACHI in the bios

booting up and shutdown/restart/sleep will be a big improvement and very noticeable

I cant boot in AHCI mode, it wont get past the BIOS. P5Q Deluxe board. Any ideas?

Are you running the latest bios? Are you trying to run an existing copy of windows you cloned over from your hdd? What actuallty happens, blue screen or does it just hand?

God yes. I only have a sata II port with a C300 and it still very very quick. Its only really the sequential reads that are bottlenecked by sata II and they are only half the story. Boot times in to windows, even shut down times are faster by approx 2x id say. What I really enjoy about it is when I actually get to the desktop, with my old F3, it was still loading stuff and was unresponsive for 10-15 secs before firefox would load for example. With the SSD, as soon as it hits the desktop its ready, no more waiting. Id put the SSD second on my best every pc buys after my asus 5850. You will realise how much the HDD (with you having a green espcially) was holding your system back.

odd i have P5q deluxe. i installed windows 7 64 bit without hitch*

well when i got to windows install screen where u go advanced to format the drive it wouldnt actually let me format the disc, BUT it did let me install windows to it and i tested the command line in windows after install and trim is running.

i literally remove all HDD - insert Crucial C300. boot to USB (i have windows installer on USB stick) install windows in AHCI mode... no issue.
