You won't get banned for offline 'cheating' in SP games.
Yet the terms and conditions say that I can be banned if I use world builder in Civ to give myself an extra warrior.
I really cannot sign to that T+C requirement.

I was under the impression that if a cheat was detected in say, counterstrike source, your steam account would be banned and along with that all of your games would be taken away from you? Please do correct me if i'm wrong.

You are wrong.
If you're caught cheating CS:S, you'll be banned from playing any source games online. SO HL2M for example, TF2 etc.
You could still play MW2 online, or HL2 offline, or any other offline game.
Basically, you get banned from the online component of a game engine. Cheat in Source, get banned from online Source.
They don't just ban your entire account.

I cheat in every single-player game that I own.

Neither will I. I much prefer ordering them online and having the boxed copy posted through my mail box![]()
I am not 100% certain a CS:S VAC ban would also initiate a TF2 VAC ban.
It's only overkill if you plan on cheating tbh, otherwise I don't really see that it presents any issue at all.
Never cheated in an online game in my life and never plan to. However in my previous living conditions (student house with 11 other people) i pretty much gave everyone who wanted it free access to game on my PC when i wasn't. If they did something dumb that got my VAC account blacklisted again i would feel it a little harsh that i'd need to create a new spare steam account to rebuy all of those VAC games for.
Surely that strengthens my point? With no way of competition publishers would have complete control over what price their games were sold for on steam. £45 for all activision games ahoy!
It just means Robert Kotick is a ****![]()
Actually theres plenty of cases on the internet to look into if you wanted to with a simple google search.

But then, if steam was my main gaming platform i probably would have been more careful with who i let use my computer without supervision...
Well that does happen to people. I never cheat in online games and have never lost any accounts or been hacked, but I am not going to take the risk of having it happen on one single account with all of the games I own.
Its ridiculous to want all your games on Steam. Really ridiculous.

Surely there's a much chance of losing your games in a burglary, depending on where you live, as there is in getting your account hacked or banned?
Why is it ridiculous to want all your games on Steam? Just because I'm sensible, and don't use hacks, or let other people use my PC to download or game on, doesn't make it ridiculous that I want my games in an easy to use system, that automatically updates and manages my games. I can contact my friend, check achievements etc.
Really, why on earth do you find that ridiculous.
