Drive a Zafira 1.6? Get 7 more mpg!

Are shell not advertising something about using fuel saving petrol???

Save up to 1L of fuel or something.

It depends completely on driving style and conditions, but I use 2-3 tanks of Shell diesel a week and can't say I have noticed.

I just used their calculator for my drive to and from work...

You could save 6.4 Litres per year**

Excellent.

Uh...they do?

SHELL FUEL SAVE gives you more MPGzzzzzzzzzz

made no difference here

No, it really isnt. I never use supermarket fuel, as even in my crappy clio I get noticeably fewer miles to the tank. With something like Shell 95 I get just over 400 miles to a tank, with Tesco or Asda I struggle to get 340. This is not just a one off, I've tried many times and I cant get a decent mileage from the supermarket stuff. There's a reason its cheap!

i get the same mpg on tesco and shell, less on asda and more on esso :D

I get much better mpg and throttle response on my turbo'd cars with 99 RON.

Non turbo its a waste of time y0.

the other halfs golf feels pretty flat at the moment. she filled it up the other night but ive no idea what she put in. it felt bad enough that ive been thinking about checking hoses under the bonnet. ill try and find out tomorrow

this is slightly off topic but, does anyone know who supplies what supermarkets with fuel? as im sure asda dont have there own rigs and refinerys lol

either way ives been told sainsburys is bp. which makes sense with the whole nectar thing, but i might be wrong

Will you be introducing Momentum for Diesel Cars, as us drivers seem to be the last on the list with any fuel improvements

LOL!

This entire test failed on one simple point. The time that they took mileage readings. Fuel light on is not an accurate method of measuring fuel level.
If I was conducting this sort of experiment on this sort of scale I would put a controlled amount of fuel into an empty tank and then measure how much fuel is left in the tank at the end of the test (if any). Also, measuring over just 1500 miles is pathetic. I would do at least 10 x that amount. At 1500 miles even minor anomalies can have a large effect on the end result.

I filled the audi up with the new shell diesel if anything I have noticed less mpg compared to normal on my weekly commute.

apparently she put posh shell stuff in there

last time i rejigged the map i was on tesco 99. i WILL go out tonight and log some data. i wont alter the map unless my findings are dangerous. i can reload this setup at a later date when im on tesco again

Earlier on I spotted:

- Some of the tests were done in June, others in November
- The ambient/intake air temps were not recorded and thus no adjustments could be made as required by the DIN standard (making any power gain claims irrelevant)
- Two of the cars were recorded as having done their power runs in 2nd gear rather than 3rd or 4th (which are far more likely to be be the gears closest to giving a 1:1 ratio)

Well spotted, I find this extra LOLZ inducing given that the document goes into some detail about how they conducted the tests so the results would be comparable.

Nice case of misinformation inorder to sell a product, can't wait for someone to take Thorney to court.

Looking at that test report PDF.

Audi TT 2.0T
95 RON - 35.55
99 RON - 41.67

Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Breeze
95 RON - 36.65
99 RON - 42.75

Am i missing something or are they claiming that a 78bhp Vauxhall Corsa Breeze 1.2 gets only 1.1mpg more than an Audi TT 2.0T with 210bhp?

lolwut.

Well given that driven normally i could get 44+ mpg out of my little 1.2 75bhp clio (i'd expect the Corsa to be in the same ballpark) then something is amiss, sounds like they thrashed the corsa on 95ron and took care with the "loud pedal" whilst using the 99ron.

i know. i got the feeling the "results" were geared towards those with more disposable income to justify "expensive" fuel as most people in bangers "cant afford" the dear stuff
