***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

I hope they have improved it, it's not that they haven't had time to audio sample every car :) like you say time will tell, fingers x'd then.

Not sure how easy it is TBH, just think the car will have to be sampled all the way across its range inside the car and out, TBH many games like NFS shift over do the sound and it sounds good but not realistic. Think of a topgear car review they dont show what it sounds like from inside the car but as it goes past on the track. Listening to sound of the Zonda on some the latest footage makes it sounds awesome, far better than previous GTs, i just wonder if they change thhe noise with the upgrades like im sure GT4 did.

For those questioning the AI there is a pretty good video of some kid parking his car on a bend on the racing line, AI car comes round the corner notices it cant get round reverses up and goes around the outside of the track.:D

Some nice "bumper car" crashes for you,

Hope they sort out the sound too, from what I understand, how a computer replicates a sound and what we identify as a particular cars exahust note are not on in the same. After playing quite a bit of forza 3 recently, it will be really disappointing if they dont make some progress in the sound department.

The developers did say they had overhauled the sounds, yeah. Whether there's any truth to that only time will tell.

Finally "alba's" videos have started to appear:

Audio directly recorded from the TVs @ Gamescon. Music could not be turned off so these recordings have been edited a bit.
Read the descriptions for more info:

Audio like everything else in the game seems to of been improved since Prologue...

More to follow :)

The visuals do look impressive but whoever is driving in those videos well... he isn't very good but hey ho just to show the visuals I suppose.

Driving is never very good at shows, I think its a mix of using a steering wheel, being in public or having to wait in-line for a turn.

Plus if they are trying those 60's racers without traction control on pro physics then they can be a bit twitchy.

That jag though sounds 50x better then any car in GT4.

anyone heard about a new logitech wheel so far? the DF GT looks obsolete/out of stock at many places and has been out nearly 3 years...

im sure logitech have a new wheel up their collective sleeves somewhere

Still concerned with regards the handling on this game, will it be like the prologue?

I hope they have improved the physics over Prologue, but if the Time Trial downloads are representative of the final game's physics you may be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm still looking forward to the game and can't wait for the release, but like I said before I personally found the physics of the Time Trial somewhat 'flat'.

The videos above with "Alba's" recording and "Denur" driving are hampered by the fact that they couldnt hear the games audio whilst playing. Secondly they do things like hitting the rev counter and testing gears on purpose. It was for audio testing forums members had requested. The cars and tracks selected were pre picked by members on GTP as to cars they wanted to hear/see.

See what you think of these

2nd batch:

Maybe people are buying them with all the good driving games due soon?
A Poll on GTP shows that over 60% of members their intend to play GT5 via Wheel @ HDTV.

The DFGT is the "Official Wheel" for the game. I cant see a new one coming and theirs not even any rumours for one.
For Logitech I dont see them wanting to market a better mid range product @ £150 as it would likely steal sales from their G27 model.
Besides G27 will eventually drop further in price, perhaps to around a £160 pricepoint like the G25 settled at. If it doesnt then Fanatecs "Carrera" wheel will win a lot of sales as its going to be in the @ £140 price range and is a great option for someone wanting something in between the DFGT & G27 current prices.

any whispers of a PS3 hardware revision for GT5 release?

Being such a huge s/w release just wondering if they are holding anything back on this front (not sure what they could do, I might just be in the market for a new one when GT5 finally appears :))

maybe but some websites definately showing as discontinued.

and DF GT WAS the official wheel of GT5 which was intended to be launched 3 years ago... but here we are 3 years later. fo me DF GT is like the official wheel of GT Prologue, who is to say there wont be a new one for Gt5?

logitech could make a bomb if they released a £99 wheel now that was better than the DF GT?

the G7 is already $220 in the state but that just isnt translating to a better price in the UK unfortunately:/

i still have my DF GT in its brown box and only 7 days through my 28 days refund guarantee returns policy. i boguth it as an insurance policy. if i see DF GT go to £49 anywhere ill return and save the moolah.

if i sense a new wheel, ill return and buy a new wheel:

Why would they do that? The PS3 slim's just had a hardware revision like a month ago. GT5's big, but you're fooling yourself if you think it's even that remotely important enough that Sony would decide to do a (still largely irrelevant, as the majority of people getting GT5 have PS3s already) hardware revision on their console.

Those smoke effects looks very nice.

The sound is absolutely terrible though. I was looking forward to hearing what the M5's V10 would sound like, but that just sounds like a PS1 game.

It is highly unlikely a new wheel is coming. It would have made more sense to have it announced at either CES/E3/Gamescon already. It's too close to the games release Id say if a new wheel or even revised "Limited Edition" version was coming it would already of been announced.

Part of the problem with selling wheels is the carriage costs and profit margins are minimal so many online stores I see have stopped carrying stocks. Logitech sell hundreds of thousands of these wheels each year so I dont see a reason for either discontinuing it or a need to be replacing it. They've paid big bucks to have a licensced "GT" product which is the only one designed to take advantage of the games "Realtime Tuning" feature using the red dial and also a working illuminated horn button.

I question the sense in why they would pay royalties again to maybe release a new wheel possibly with H-Shifter and Clutch support as 80% of gamers wouldnt care to use these and as more expensive product it would likely sell less.
