Ebay sale seems shady

We can just easily comment on some of the other terrible threads on here, such as where people just post a link from BBC news about a "Man Who Was Found With Squirrel Up His Bum" with no further comment other than the link.

This isn't about other threads.

i'm sorry but i don't understand your point one bit

You really don't understand the point? Just because some one has 0 feedback, they're not trying to rip some one off, or, 0 feedback isn't a sign of trouble? People have to start somewhere afterall.

Was their paypal delivery address confirmed?

That's another thing that doesn't mean it's a scam. I've only recently confirmed my paypal address after opening a new paypal account not so long ago. I've been using eBay for over 5 years now with various different accounts.

And now, original bidder pays, and asks why it hasnt been sent yet and they need it TOMORROW.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother.....

What is wrong with postal orders btw?
Surely that way you go to post office get cash, know you have been paid with no method of them getting the cash back?

Am I missing some postal order scam?

It's a scam when the seller asks for postal orders, then never sends the item out.

It doesnt take long to confirm a paypal address/account. I got stung last year when a seller claimed he never received his item he had an unconfirmed paypal address, i provided proof of postage including a signature.
Then all of a sudden i get informed the seller has done some sort of magic charge back/payment reversal. I was still out of pocket £360 and paypal were pretty useless through it all.

Im not saying this person will do the same but you have to be careful these days, all these scams its hard knowing who's genuine a lot of it is risk for both buyers and sellers on ebay. Im very dubious about who i buy from and sell items to now on ebay.

He gave me his work number, which i tried ringing about 10 times today and its engaged all the time. Its an 0114 number and his postal address is down south.

Think i might just issue him a full refund and not post it

 why?

i got the feeling the buyer is dogdy, i dont buy the story about not wanting the invoice. why cant he remove the invoice once he got it before giving it to his son.

BS

Fairly sure paypal will not cover you if the paypal address you send the item to is "unconfirmed" it must be a confirmed address to recieve paypal protection.

Its too dodgy, if the address is unconfirmed then IF its a scam you will loose your money. Refund him and relist with "no payapl unless you have more than 10 feedback"

or you could refund and then email and say there is a problem with you paypal account, could he just get a cheque in the post, you'll never hear from him again if its a scam.

Yes it is if people keep removing your bids...

The first thing I bought on ebay was £386.

1) wow smart ass comment there - the amount of scammers on ebay it is better to be SAFE then sorry, seems many foolish people on here just seem to happily accept or trust in paypal to much and will send any high priced item off to peps with 0 feedback....the removal of bids is there for a reason! i have a hard enough time with season vets of ebays sometimes without having to worry about new people/potential scammers not understanding anything about ebay and deciding to start buying high priced items immediately!

2) so? do you want a gold medal?

works 150 miles away from his home (paypal unconfirmed) address
your trying to tell me no one commutes? i know for a fact some people on this forum drive 100+ miles to work because they have posted about it in the motors section.

seems odd its always been engaged though why doesnt the op just google the phone number?

i wouldnt be sending an expensive item to a paypal address that isnt verified though
