A bit of drama as usual on a Monday

Are you Chopper Read?*

*doesn't seem to care when his mate is stabbing him

Chopper Reid :D

Great movie.

But I think that sometimes people don't realize that "banter" just means insulting someone or taking insults from someone else. Banter is an excuse for people to be nasty to one another basically.

This is the bit that tells me you deserved two sore testicles. You were looking for a reaction and, bloody hell, you got one!

Perhaps you will stop being a penis before you get a slap next time.

what a load of crap. its meant to be his best mate who is living with him and borrowing money off him.

it does not merit this reaction at all.

Another immigrant who's sneaked in to the country. I hope you are proud of yourself

Dimpo.

how much money is a lot? and where has he come from?

i would guess he's probably hooked on drugs and has gone head mental. have you gone through his stuff?

to be fair he does sound like a bit of a dimpo

yeah - he sounds like he's "hooked" on "drugs" so he's now a crazy cracker

(sigh)

OP - sounds like you deserve a good kicking to me - perhaps you shouldn't have called him something that obviously got to him or hurt his feelings - aren't you supposed to be his "best mate"?

some "best mates" LOL!

I don't think the OP was teasing and provoking, though. It sounded like the kind of banter most friends have between themselves at the pub on a regular basis.

My friends and I spend much of our time when at the pub, ripping the pee out of each other, it's just funny.

If you only surround yourself with people that never tease you then maybe you have confidence issues :p.

Oh don't get me wrong, I can take being teased and enjoy ample banter at all opportunities. I can be incredibly irritating :D

However, when it goes from banter to consistantly demoralising, then it is no longer funny for the victim because then he himself becomes the joke. It's not even a thin line - imagine if somebody called you 'dimpo', which is relatively harmless. Then imagine they called you it at the end of every sentence aimed at you and sang at you 'dimpo' constantly for months. I imagine eventually the joke would wear rather thin.

The only reason why I'm not immediately siding with the OP is because I see no reason for his friend to react in that way unless such teasing had outstayed its welcome and I sincerely doubt that the drugs had any effect on his possition. If they did, they would only make him less tolerant to something he was clearly already fuming about.

i didn't read any of this thread but you got kicked in the balls, in public, in Asda... lol

Now if you were teasing a mate, would you rather he smash your face in or tell you what's bothering him? If he would've said something I would have immediately stopped. I just don't see the need for him to go that far, I'd never even think about punching him even with all the crap he calls me sometimes.
