Your biggest ever let down game... EVER!

Black and White 2
Civ 4 (found it really boring)
The Movies

I personally really liked GTA 4 and the more serious setting, but thats just me :)

Wing Commander 3 onwards - I loved Wing Commander 1 and 2, but then they went all silly with CGI overload, and forgot about gameplay.

Populous the beginning - went in the wrong direction.

High Octane – Take a look, was a bullfrog racing game based on the magic carpet engine, dreadful game. Tried to be wipeout 2097 in a way but failed. Which brings me to –

Magic Carpet 2 – Yeah. More of the same from the first, just upped the res a little and it ran like a total dog on my system.

Quake 3 – this really failed. Had nothing of the feel of quake 2

Resident evil – PC version, PS version was fantastic. PC version was a blocky mess considering it required a high end GPU at the time. Thankfully capcom now release slightly better console ports.

Mirrors Edge – I loved the idea, but it was just too frustrating to play. And it had a stupid disarm and shooting system.

Need for Speed shift – Another racing game that promised so much and failed. Rave reviews for a very poor handling game. Finally got some mileage out of it when I found a tweaking guide to set the handling up a little better.

Gran Tourismo prologue – What an embarrassment, its just a bigger demo of the, at the moment, vapour ware GT5 for PS3

Indycar racing – codemasters, wow you really messed this one up. Normally codemasters release decent racing games, this sadly was a travesty.

Crysis - Pretty to look at, boring and nothing more to do with this one other then benchmark and say – hey my PC runs Crysis… At 5fps… Great graphics good game do not.

Settlers 7 – really wanted to like this, but they need to take this back to how the first settlers were.

Silent Hunter 5 – what a mess. Game didn’t even have binoculars. After hunting around in Silent Hunter 4 and in my early years Silent Service II, this was a total disaster.

Grand Prix 3 – Mr Crammond. You messed this one up. It was nothing more then Grand Prix 2 but somehow it had more bugs and performance issues that even a highest spec PC couldn’t run it correctly. Grand Prix 4 even messed up with CPU over GPU, but GP4 is a lot better, and its what GP3 should, and could have been.

Bioshock 2 and Mass effect 1 and 2 get mentions only for the fact they removed pad support for PC owners.

Still got my PC version and i remember it being a damn good port. Needed a 3Dfx or PowerVR card (which was not uncommon at the time). Although looking for my disk just found "The Nomad Soul" Great idea, crap game

The Movies

The Movies is absolutely abismal as a game. But as a Film creation tool?

It's a fantastic program for making Machinema when adding Mods and the S&E expansion (which allows free camera movement)! Check out www.tmunderground.com

Some have won awards worth hundreds (and I believe in one case) thousands of pounds :O

It's most deffinately a Tool with a mini side-game aspect :P

Spore - It looked sooooo good, but turned out to be sooooo bad!

GTA4 - When will Rockstar learn that we don't want realistic! We want to be able to steal army jets and shoot old ladies not take our cousin bowling!

Weird, GP3 for me was the best of the 4, GP4 just wouldn't work.

1) Warhammer Online
2) Star Trek Online
3) Modern Warfare 2

For the first two I was a big fan of the IPs for the releases and they turned out to be very disappointing to what they could have been. Felt the same way when I found out what the SW:TOR space combat was going to be like though obviously need to wait and see what the game is like on release.

Really enjoyed playing CoD4/WaW so MW2 was a big letdown with all the various problems with the game given the cash-cow it became. Haven't played it much after getting it on PC recently since buying it as my friends played it.

1. Empire Total War - Ruined one of the best game franchises of all time. (OF ALL TIME /Kanye). I find it nearly unplayable.

2. Silent Hunter IV and V - loved SH3, these just couldn't live up to it.

3. Spore - just really boring considering the hype.

4. MW2 - between lag, me not being very good, and constant cheating it is virtually unplayable. Quite enjoyed the SP mode though.

5. Gothic 3 - Just wouldn't work. Sooo buggy.

6. Age of Empires 3 - Couldn't recapture past glories.

And to go against the grain - I quite liked Red Alert 3, mainly for the Coop missions, which I completed with my brother. Far Cry 2 would have been ok too, were it not for the most retarded respawning enemies ever.

mw2 - laggy, no dedicated servers, full of cheaters, not fun to play

opflash 2 - was hoping for a cross between arma 2 and cod4, which is what it turned out to be except it was a cross between all the crap bits of arma 2 and all the crap bits of cod4 :(

Oh and even tho its not out yet i have a feeling that worms reloaded isn't gona be very good compared to WA. Sure has nicer gfx but has fewer and crappier weapons, bad console interface, no chat in lobby to arrange games with chat i.e "anyone fancy a shopper game" or whatever. Etc.

Hope im wrong but its not lookin good.

Aliens Versus Predator is the only game that was a massive let down in recent memory.

Am playing it through atm and whilst it's quite good, I was really hoping for this to be ace. To be honest, it isn't as good as the previous title in the series which was released nine years ago...

Just for the record:

A lot of games mentioned here I agree with, some are OK in my opinion, but I must say that I absolutely love both Fallout 3 and Farcry 2.

Bioshock 2

Modern Warfare 2

Far Cry 2

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising

New Wolfenstein

AVP (new)

Splinter Cell Conviction

Basically any game thats been developed as a cash cow based on its previous success

UT3 - Great engine, terrible art direction and FPS shooters have moved on.

Such a shame since I've played the Unreal series since day one.

Same here, also it took ages to come out. Most of the UT2k4 clans left for other games because they got fed up of waiting.
