But was there any need to buy a city car at 9.5k total when you could have bought a lovely fiesta just 1 or 2 years older for allot less. Still cheap to run, insure, tax, service. Perfect city car.

9.5k on that just makes no sense. IF you cant see that you are being silly or just talking yourself into believing it wasnt so dumb.
 
Stop banding the term city car around like it's the be all and end all, anything with a tiny engine would have done the same job.

He could have got something totally awesome and something that would pretty much not depreciate as long as it was looked after...

I assume you are joking when you compare a nearly new car with 2k on the clock and manufacturers warranty to a mini, one of the most rust happy cars ever made. And made by rover at that.
