Going to take the ssd plunge and don't know what to do. For some unkown reason i want a ssd for my os and 1 for may games folder. Its between 1 160gig intel or 1 30gig vertex and 1 96gig vertex.

Would performace be better with 1 or 2 drives?

And is there much difference, real life not just benchmark difference between the vertex and vertex 2 drives.
Ive got a max budget of £300- £350

Thanks for any help.

One SSD would be better, especially with your budget.

Go for something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-006-CR&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1427

It will be good performance, especially if your motherboard has SATA3 functionality. Otherwise it will just run at SATA2 speeds (but still nippy)

As for difference between the V1 and V2s, there is an improvement but its not mind bendingly amazing.

The 128GB C300 I linked will be plenty for your OS and a ton of games.

Don't forget Postville refresh is soon. With yoru budget you could probably buy something amazing. Look for the "Intel SSD Roadmap" thread.

Was looking at it but my current games folder is over 100gig so it will be pretty much full after the install. Thanks anyways:p

You dont make any sense then - you said in your OP that you're considering a 30gb+96gb (which for the mathmeticians out there, its 126gb) which is SMALLER than a 128gb C300. Yet you say the C300 wouldn't be big enough.

Seriously??

If you've just flatout eliminated one of the options, just get the intel.

You get better read/writes with several drives but you lose other functions such as TRIM support. It's only worth RAIDing if you get quality drives to start with IMO.

I was asking for advice on what to get, hence the two options i was considering
Thanks for the maths lesson and the useful post on RAIDing:rolleyes:
