Aint it a shame..

Sometimes it's also a case of restricting yourself to a relatively uncomfortable chair when you'd rather be horizontal on the couch ;)
pc users can do this.

i think it comes down to the fact that pc users are more competitive where as console players are happy to just play

I'm happy missing out on a few games so I can use the better controls and better graphics thats on a PC.

Plus sofas are overrated, I'd rather be alert when playing my games.

If the PC could do all the things you've listed, our stance wouldn't exist.

As it stands, to get the most out of gaming as a whole, you to game on both consoles and a PC. Those restricting themselves to the one platform out of some blinkered sense of self superiority are missing out.

The PC IS capable of delivering everything and anything, that is the point.
What is missing is sufficient support from the game studios.

don't know about you but i recline in my comfy office chair with my feet up and using the lumbar support as a head rest :p

I used to play so much GTA: San Andreas on PS2 and it seemed so nice visually. However when I saw this game on my brother's PC,that was the first time I noticed how clearer and sharper it was graphically to it's console counterpart. Before that I never knew that games looked better on PC and they could be modded:p

You've quite clearly not played it.

what do you mean? i already said i've finished it. it had a cinematic feel thanks to prettier graphics and animations with a male protagonist compared to tomb raider but it was completely linear with lame story and shooting mechanics. plus it was about 10 hours long completely forgetable game. it doesnt hold a candle to superb games that came out in the same year like dragon age, batman arkham asylum and assasin's creed 2.

Ok it IS capable, you're right. But it doesn't have those things so our viewpoint exists.

Maybe you should then be asking, WHY do the developers tend to be favouring consoles these days? Why are these innovations and titles not making it to the PC?

/Awaits people to start shouting 'Because CHILDREN on CONSOLES are easier to please!'

It is a shame not many people see the PC as a gaming machine; they just see it as a means to get on Facebook

yeah also facebook games...my sister has a fairly decnet laptop with a GT220 which is fairly powerful and yet its wasted cos all it ever does is facebook/twitter...

the reason why devs favour ( or mostly) the consle is becasue you take any game on the 360 say and it will work, same for the PS3...with PC you got AMD and Nvidia fighting like a secret war...take boarderlands for example it runs very badly on ATI systems.

also there is a bigger market for consles than PCs...as it takes some knowledge of what to get...plus the price of a PC for a decent spec but skimpy on some areas it will set you back around £500-600..

I do like consles i own a 360 myself and I do use it quite a bit, but I still use my PC a lot as well, as I perfer it as my gaming machine.... three reasons more powerfull, better graphics, I perfer the mouse.

why would someone make an innovative game when rehashes like mw2 and a couple of map packs sell more than anything else? and guess who buys these rehashes. thats another reason why many pc gamers hate consoles.

I was scared away from PC gaming for years during my N64 days, by fears of using a keyboard and mouse, being way above my ability and I believe that scarlotslot off PC gaming.

defragging their hard drives.

Cheers for reminding me I ain't defragged my drive for months; will check tonight if W7 has been able to do it automatically, anytime recently.

For the billionth time consoles have just as many innovative, challenging and original titles as PCs do. Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Yakuza, Resonance of Fate, the list goes on.

These games sell well, they are constantly being produced, they are original, not rehashed. Why have developers chosen to make these on the consoles?

Going slightly OT of the PC Gaming .vs. Console gaming debate....

I haven't owned a console since a PS2 but have played Xbox online and numerous games for the new consoles.

I played some MW2 online on the Xbox and it was abysmal. The graphics looked arcadey and what's worse is that I couldn't use the pad to control/aim/move to save my life. This frustrated me no end being a die hard PC Mouse + Kb user.

Anyway, it got me thinking, you can plug in a keyboard and mouse to an Xbox right? I assume probably has to be official MS equipment but the idea is there.

Has anyone ever tried doing this as a test? I'd LOVE to go on Xbox Live and use PC FPS controls to see where it got me.

Yes it exists via buying an unlicensed peripheral, yes you'd be better as you're using a more responsive, accurate and fast control method, yes you'd end up with higher scores. It's regarded as the console equivalent of OGC.

I wont even get started on that I'm afraid.

The answer is. If you want to use a mouse and keyboard, use a PC where everyone else is using a mouse and keyboard.

Replying on my mobile so sorry if itsbad, but this thread has kinda took the mindset that I think is crap in my op.

Its the fact that people are so stubborn on their selected platform that I find sad. Many of my favourite games were console, but whereas I'm open minded and appreciate brilliance. Ico, final fantasy, half life, call of duty, etc etc many people are against change: (

Games are games no matter what the platform, the sooner some of you guys gets off your high horse the better you'll be.

I use both my pc and consoles for games, when theirs a game for either platform i like, i'll buy it.

Consoles are not just for casual gamers, and PC's aren't just for 'hardcore' gamers. There is a mixture of both who use both platforms.

Games only have issues on specific GFX cards when developers start going outside of the main DX spec and doing their own little things (such as AA)

Of course at that point you need to work with the hardware makers to ge your code to work on both (but that's part of developing for a diverse platform)

. It's regarded as the console equivalent of OGC.

Sorry whats OGC? I'm really not with it today.

Is it allowed on the Xbox, officially? I assume you can play the game however you want as long as you aren't cheating/exploiting/etc...?

I do :) It was a hypotheical as after me failing badly on my mates Xbox COD4 account I was unimpressed with the controls and thought it would be good to be able to use M+Kb to do some fighting?

I never accepted the cost of a PC over a console as an argument. Everyone and there granny has a PC, its a sunk cost, all your doing is spending the difference to make it ''gaming grade''. Spend that extra £200 on your run of the mill PC and it will be a competent gaming machine.
