Where do you check to see if opted in for the hardware survey? As I can't remember. DOn't fancy remaining in it (if opted in originally) if Stream decided to survey what ever they fancy.

It pops up and asks you when the survey is run. You have to opt in at the time.

i really dont understand why people dont care about anonymous hardware information, but do care about anonymous software information, i mean seriously, are you paranoid or something?!?
its hardly even subtle, there was a big news post about it before it happened, and as always you cant 'accidentally' take part in the hardware survey, its a message that you have to 'next' through a good few times

I thought it might be a single opt-in and then always surveyed automatically without further prompts.

Nope. You have to opt in each time.

You fill in a questionnaire at the same time to provide hardware details that can't be detected manually.

uTorrent is installed on almost as many systems as iTunes

Is that really such a surprise? uTorrent is arguably the best torrent client whereas iTunes, unless you use Apple hardware, is far from the best media player (or online store). I've never had iTunes installed on my PC.

Only if torrent forums/communities/comments existed to warn people when a file is infected with a trojan/virus :rolleyes:

I've got tonnes of Steam games and zero illegal game downloads. In fact, I wouldn't know where to start with torrents.

I don't use bittorrent

but a try before you buy attitude has saved me a lot of money i would have spent of terrible game and has put a good deal of extra money into devs hands.

I didn't accuse you, nor anyone else, of using Bit torrent.
