cinema prices!

Prices here are: tues / thurs - £3.95 (non 3D), think it's an extra £2 if in 3D. Any other day is £5.95, again that's non 3D.

There's a ASDA next door to the cinema here so you just go there and buy all your food. I wouldn't dream of buying food in the cinema.

Although those Tango Ice blasts and bloody lovely!

if like me you have a family of 5.then when you take into account the tickets, popcorn and a meal out to make it a nice night out then your talking 100 quid.

Going the cinema is mega expensive if you've a family with you. My mum use to tell me stories how fellers use to take their girls out in the week to the pics if they were short of cash.

That just isn't the case these days as you're spending £30 upwards to even have a decent night out.

Whats right nd wrong has nothing to do with it, business is all about supply and demand and if the demand meets the supply at this price then thats what they will sell it for. If you don't like the price don't go.

It's not really that simple though, is it - unless the cinema is running at 100% utilisation 100% of the time then quite simply demand and supply do not meet at the current pricepoint.

It is very silly to think that every single product or service in this country is offered at exactly the equilibrium point on a supply and demand curve!

Also, although Avatar is coming out in 3D next year, you do of course need a 3d TV to watch it. Which costs more than £12.

Damn I've been saving up that £12 for ages. I was going to buy it tomorrow as well. I was really looking forward to all that 3D goodness. :(

Looks like I'll just have to spend it on beer instead.

Holy crap, that's very close to the price I pay per month for an unlimited ticket at our cinema!

Although with that we still have to pay £1.20 each for 3d glasses if we don't remember to bring our own.

heard avatar is coming out tomoz with 8 mins of extra filming and as ive never experienced 3D before i decided to go see it. went to vue to check prices and found they are ridiculous!

want to go and see it with 3 friends. as were all over 19 years old this would equal this much:

£42 excluding popcorn/coke/nachos etc just for 3 people.

im a bit surprised theyre allowed to charge this much.

do you think theyre right to charge this amount of money for a film?

Funny my wife and I had this discussion just this morning. £29 on tickets nad another £10 on popcorn and stuff for 2 adults and a child for a 1hr.43min film of questionable quality is outrageous.

We decided to do something else and wait for the Blu-ray in 12 weeks.

Cinema is so overpriced however £13.50 I paid to see Avatar in IMAX 3D was well worth it. Anyway having seen Avatar again on DVD I am not going to pay some crazy prices just to see 3D again. 3D is a gimmick and doesn't make a bad film better.

Holy moly....

Here it is £8.95 for 2D, £10.95 for 3D, no stores close enough for food, which the cinema bans if not purchased there anyway.

Where do you live?

I prefered Avatar on Blu-Ray, I found the 3D at the cinema distracting.

Cinema prices do seem to have been skyrocketing these past couple of years. Used to be just over a tenner for me and my girlfriend to go, now I might end up having to have over a 20! It's rather annoying. They don't need to be THAT high.

And the cinemas will justify them by saying some rubbish like "oh well film makers have to make a living in order to continue making these great movies". To say something like that is just stupid considering how much the top earning actors get paid. It's like footballers wages discussions all over again. Pay the top actors less and use that money to make more good films!

£42 for three people's tickets.
Another seven quid each for popcorn and a drink.
Let's say a fiver for parking.

That's less than £23 each for a decent evening out, not too bad I'd say considering you can barely leave the house on a 'proper' night out for £20.
