Right, last post on the subject for me as I've quite clearly misjudged my audience. That'll be the last time I try and get away with posting something bad about a BMW guys, you win. But before that....
The car was a 10 plate 318d M Sport, which presumably explains why the ride quality wasn't exactly marshmallow soft. I can't imagine M Sport suspension package plus run-flats offering great ride quality on Burton-area roads with our myriad speed bumps and pock-marked surfaces - there are fewer craters on the surface of the Moon, and I'm not even sure that's an exaggeration. So leaving aside the question of "comparable spec" including an automatic gearbox - a small, sporty (well....ish, it was a diesel after all), firm riding repmobile is considered a "comparable" replacement for a big, cosseting, luxury saloon is it?
And no, I don't think the Granada is a better car than a BMW 318d myself. I know I'd rather have the BMW, simply because it stands a better chance of getting anywhere without something breaking (the Granada refused to start last week, which was unfortunate since we needed it to jump start his Bentley project car....) and would be a lot cheaper to fuel. However, the Granada does have very comfy chairs in the front when you're on the larger end of the scale and, yes, an automatic gearbox.
So yeah, thanks guys for going all-out against me for a big FAIL over Spelling Fun With Fox™ there (particularly you paradigm, beautifully done I must say). I realise that nothing I say will change anyone's opinion, but I really don't remember the ninja edit, not even after the first decent night of sleep in probably a fortnight. Funny how that all started because Fox brought
my car into the argument - something that
he doesn't tend to like others doing to him. Ah well, guess I know what our level will be from here on in. And with the rest of you, come to think of it - you all took
exceptional issue to me making a pretty minor jab at one car in the BMW range. Do you honestly think BMW needs defending from me? I really don't think they do, gang.
Peace
