cinema prices!

Indeed - I tried to conceal (badly) two foot long Subways and a 12 bag of cookies at Vue once. The guy said I couldn't come in so I had to eat the Subways quick time! Managed to get through 1 1/2 and a few cookies, with a lighter load it was much easier to hide the rest. The guy knew me from Uni too

I felt a bit horrid for a little while and was hungry half way through the film, cue the 6" and the rest of the cookies

You can buy your popcorn and coke in ASDA but you can't watch the film there, and blu-ray and dvd releases are delayed- if you want to see it there and then, you've no choice (unless you go down the illegal route of course, but it's not the same).

this is why i don't go to the cinema any more - it just isn't worth it.
the cinemas clearly underestimate how patient/tight i am - i'll wait til the dvd is out to save a few quid.

It amazes me that it is even legal for them to do that. It is not as if their core purpose is a restaurant... It would be like a petrol station saying you have to remove your clothes when you go to fill up because they aren't Castrol brand.

Of course its legal! You are entering their premises on their conditions. If you don't like the conditions, go elsewhere. Having a snack during a film isn't a basic human right.

. Fortunately I am not over weight considering the amounts I eat. I couldn't repeat it these days.

Well, it is akin to throwing people out of stadiums because they are wearing clothes that advertise products that the promoter objects to. Of course they are allowed to, doesn't mean I think it is morally right though. Sure, in a restaurant if you took in your own food, you are disrupting their core business. A cinema's core business is films - although you could probably argue with some credance that it is also food now.

Obviously people aren't stupid enough not to know that "if they don't like the conditions, go elsewhere", I was just expressing my opinion on the matter that's all.

last time i went to the cinema it was £3.50... whats happend lol mind you last thing i saw was transformers and couldnt put up with all the idiots talking through it so never been back since, i do what any sane person does now and just wait a few months for dvd/bray release there getting quicker and quicker shooting them

I always take snacks/sweets/drinks with me and make no attempt to conceal them, I think if you're an 18 year old youth you might get stopped, as a 40 year old man with two kids I'd just laugh at them

Well, money wise the shop is the core business as that's where the majority of the profit comes from since the money coming from the box-office wouldn't even cover running expenses. Of course, people wouldn't go to the cinema if there were no films so really they both support each other.

Also, if it's any consolation to those paying very high prices I just remembered I paid €25 for a single ticket there last week

Start your own "morally correct" cinema chain that costs a couple of quid to get in and people can bring their own food and drink.

Im happy i got my unlimited cineworld card!
There was way too many films coming out that i wanted to see without the wait for them to appear on DVD (only because i hate people spoiling film endings)
So its been handy to just pop in when i want free parking after half 6 costs me 13.50 a month which i dont exactly miss and it passes a couple of hours when theres nothing to do, mate has the same.
I sometimes get the ice blast things as there amazing but i aint paying the 5 quid for the pop corn thats no longer freshly made (just heated from big bags in the display units!)
I do hate the annoyance of people there, children especially! or rather anyone who doesnt shut up!

Avatar is worth the 3D showing! i saw it when it last came out over in Ireland for half the price its costing here!

I don't think 40 quid is a lot for 3 adults in London. Just sneak in your own drinks/popcorn and you'll be fine

Hell, I'd be pretty impressed if 3 people could do anything in London for less than £40, so you could moan about anything really

Why is that the only people that have to watch the "anti piracy" messages are those people that pay to buy the DVD/Bluray or go to the Cinema, all the knocked off stuff has the carp removed

My favourite thing is getting into the Cinema to an early showing and then spending the rest of the day there moving from screen to screen, magic!

My local independent cinema does adult tickets for £4.75 and only £2.50 on a Wednesday. It's called the plaza cinema in Crosby (north Liverpool)
