cinema prices!

Start your own "morally correct" cinema chain that costs a couple of quid to get in and people can bring their own food and drink.

We'll leave you to wonder how to find the monthly rent.

Sounds an interesting idea- give people the option to bring their own stuff (don't attempt to ban it), and sell to those who don't bring anything. Could do interesting stuff with a supermarket or nearby shops, like a discount on buying items if you have a cinema ticket (and the cinema then gets a % cut of that sale).

Local art-house cinema does something similar with regards to food, although they limit drinks I think. Clearly you'd have to say there is a sensible limit on the amount you take it so it doesn't turn into a picnic.

Maybe not quite as contemptuous an idea as you initially might think? Could be wrong, just thinking out loud really, you don't absolutely have to adopt the standard business models to be successful - may have to be very innovative though.

You'd still have to charge equal amounts for tickets - bit I guess it depends on the management structure of the company. If there are shareholders some of the income will have to go towards dividends etc.

dodging the staff is awesome lol

lol they get suspicious when you march in with a trench coat in the blistering heat of summer :P?

Avatar is coming out on blu-ray in 3d next year.

I recently paid £12 to see Toy Story in 3d as a student. London is such a rip off - Showcase in Leicester is the finest cinema Ive ever been to in terms of comfyness, your view and the size of the screens yet a student ticket is just £5.50!

Took my grandson there a few times, last was to see Toy Story 3,iv,e been pleasantly surprised how cheap their prices are.

Well you are paying for the 3D experience.

what about theme parks with 4d cinema rides? yea the movie is only 5-10minutes long but you can go on as much as you want aswell as loads of proper rides for the price of 2-3 3d movies.

cinema value for money is pathetic

you can bring your own crisps , sweets , drinks anyway.

if someone wont let you in because you have your own ask for the manager they will let you in aslong as you arent taking the **** trying to bring in fast food

My favourite thing is getting into the Cinema to an early showing and then spending the rest of the day there moving from screen to screen, magic!
A friend got arrested for that. Not so smart.

The one thing I dislike about the cinema, more than the cost, is the fact they no longer dip the lights 100% (IMAX seem to). There are always residual lights on at low lumens. Drives me INSANE.

I like to enjoy films in darkness, even the fire exist signs **** me off, but the ceiling/side lights. Oh dear. My brain = explodes.

Because I'm a student, I get discounts most places. Stack that up with Orange Wednesdays, me and a mate saw Toy Story 3D for £3.85 or something.

Hmm, I find complete darkness after an hour or so gives me a headache if I'm looking at a screen. It does at home anyway.

You're actually not meant to watch TV in complete darkness as it strains the eyes and also makes you sleepy. With some ambient light you get a better picture, well from my experience anyway.

The thrill of a few minutes on some crappy ride will never give you the range of emotions and escape experienced at a cinema.

I’m talking about an IMAX experience with their massive screens (height of 4/5 double decker buses), steep auditoriums and massive (11,600 watt) sound systems. Go to one of these and it is value for money.

That is unfortunately a health and safety thing :(

I wouldn't dare spend that much. They can shove their 3D, it would most likely ruin a good movie anyway.

How they think those prices are acceptable I just don't know.

Wow, it's actually cheaper for me to drive down the M5 for 45 minutes, and go see a film at Vue than it is to go to my local Odeon which is 15 minutes away... :o

Not really a fan of 3d, its ok now and again for a film like avatar at imax but come on...every other film nowdays seems to have a 3d version. Much prefer nice sharp crisp blue ray. As for prices of cinema, £4.25 (with nhs or student discount) in AMC brimingham (nice cinema too). Popcorn & drinks are a rip off tho.

That's odd. The last time I went to the cinema (was my first visit to the showcase deluxe in leicester) the lights went totally off. I'm going again tomorrow so I'll get to see if it was a **** up or not
