I thought this would be a good thread to make as each person list would be different & hopefully developers read it and fix the things they need to :)

my list:
1. Games that requires Disc to be in the Drive
2. Developers that do more work on Graphics Than Story
3. Games that are overpriced
4. Developers that drop support for there games after 2 months
5. cut the story short so they can get more from DLC

whats your five?:D

******* behind BC2 saying they have new 'free' maps, when all it is is the same map with a different game mode, they should be calling it new gamemode pack not ****** MAP PACK that ***** me off, I would much rather have prefered only 2 genuinely new free map packs or even just 1 rather than 6 packs of flipping gamemodes. OH and also PC couldn't get onslaught mode because they thought all the servers would switch to it, ye boohoo they just couldn't be asked is all.

I don't realyl have a top 5 specifically as it would be hard to group all my gripes under 5 specific headings...

Games that you wonder just who beta tested them... as theres so many glaring issues that even 5 minutes of playing through make painfully aparent.

Stuff like with mafia 2 demo... pointless timelimit, massive rant against legit customers who dared to over-ride it basically calling them thieves and then removing the demo the moment the full game goes public... last game I buy from 2K I'd rather see them go bankrupt...

Eve online - where bugs that were unintended but actually enhance the gaming experience are fixed, making the game more of a drag to play, while annoying long standing bugs go untouched.

games too short,
cd in drive is a big problem i agree,
games pumped out and then fixed in patches etc,
some games which you have to register for accounts etc - meaning you cant sell them on,
new releases being full price for all of 2 weeks then being found in the bargain bin lol

did I mention pointless achievements you get just for playing the game? lol

now COD4 had some great and worthwhile achievements i.e. kill an opponent, pick up his weapon and kill him with his own weapon when he respawns... now it seems to be the in thing to throw them in for any and everything to appeal to the kiddies making them worthless...

I find games in general are going down hill these days i cant really remember the last time i played a game that had the wow factor like say ocarina of time for example.

Maybe im just getting bored of gaming ? :p

1. Ridiculous DRM systems
2. Expensive DLC
3. Awful voice acting
4. Glitches
5. Incentives that make it easier for people to win if they spend more real life funds buying weapons etc

I'd chip in console ports to others mentioned here, though it's a bit of an old hat complaint by now. Other than that, DLC, DRM, micro transactions, monthly subs and Kotick.

They rely on patches too much. So they release buggy releases and think meh well patch it when its out or bit after.

Gameplay and innovation seems to be gone very few titles bring a whole new way of playing and enjoying games its either fps or rts theres no new genres being made and games for them new genres.

1: Invasive DRM, they need to accept that some one will and can break DRM, it's pointless and only harms the legit buyers

2: Sellout devs who take backhand payments to "optimise" games for "certain" hardware.

3: Devs charging for content that you get on the disc, and calling it "DLC". I think if more devs, who want to make DLC, did it the way Gearbox did with Borderlands then it'd be great. The Borderlands DLC expanded the game a massive amount for me. I thought the game by itself was great, the DLCs just made it better. They were like mini sequels and made Gearbox look quite dedicated.

4: Arrogant prices. Games priced at ridiculous levels like MW2, and then the "DLC" they "released" which half of it originated from MW, and then the price for it.

5: Devs who whinge about piracy, and even more so, second hand games, call everyone theives and use it as an excuse to raise prices and assault you with horribly invasive DRM. It seems that devs are constantly making rubbish games that don't sell well at all, and then whinging about piracy being the reason, rather than their game is just rubbish. If you make a good game, then it'll sell well. I'll again refer to Borderlands, that game is so incredibly easy to pirate, you can play online with it as well without any effort, however, it's a good game and sold well because of that.

In no particular order:
1) Graphics over gameplay, story or length of game.
2) Lack of support for games - if every developer supported their games as much as Valve...
3) Rushed releases - the amount of patches released on day of release is preposterous - no wonder i always wait a few weeks after release - at least it's playable then.
4) Releasing classic games - good. Not converting them to be playable on modern systems - lazy.
5) Cash-in games. Usually very poor quality - why not spend a little more time and make something worthwhile?

its not just the expense of buying the games, the bandwidth steam must be able to cope with when a new game is released, say mafia 2, must be insane and cost quite a lot of money to be able to provide so that

1. Instant action buttons. Ie. anything that starts an animation based action when you press a button. I know even movement buttons basically start an animation but you know what I mean: instant takedown buttons etc. These automated actions are fun the first 2-3 times but anything more than that is overkill and pretty much kills any game that had potential to be good.

2. FOV. I play my FPS games with 85-95 FOV. I have no intention of playing ****ty console ports with locked 65-70 FOV.

3. Digital game pricing. Years ago when Steam was introduced we were promised cheaper games because physical material costs extra as does physical distribution. Today, upcoming and recently released digital games cost more than retail copies *everytime*. Might not apply to all zones but is true in €uro-zone.

4. DLC. Not planning to buy any and games that are shipped with less content than intended just to sell some extra DLC. There's good DLC out there too. GTA4 episodes were great content/price-wise as is for example the Trials 2 DLC pack.

5. Mouse acceleration. I don't want any. Did you hear that devs? I want to disable mouse acceleration and mouse smoothing. Don't mess with my input settings.

1. Call of Duty
2. Games that try to be Call of Duty
3. Devs who think 'Screw it, let's just go make a shooter...like Call of Duty'
4. Devs who think 'Ah, no one cares about the writing, story or amount of content. Let's just put in more shooting and if they want more content we'll sell it to them at excessive prices like Call of Duty'.
5. Did I mention Call of Duty?
