Just recieved my GTX470

It's a bit far to claim people are lying because they call it loud. "Loud" is very subjective to the individual. If the sound doesn't bother you, then great, if you can't hear it, then great, but you could have bad hearing.

Sounds don't bother me, I sleep next to a large fan, I can pretty much ignore sounds, but I know they can and do bother other people a lot.

I have just thrown an Asus 470 v2 inside my PC and it isnt much louder, if any to my 5850

I was very skeptical at first ,but i am really pleased so far.

I used "lie" for want of a better word..

The reason I said that these allegations are untrue, is the fact that the card sits a good, hmm 50cms away from me, with the side panel of my computer off and I could not hear it. I do not have poor hearing, and I have a fairly quiet rig (See sig).

Indeed it is very subjective to the person and everyone will have a unique opinion. That was written in my opinion, and was not intended to insult or accuse!

just been on asus site and there are 2 version of the 470 but only difference i can find is one version comes with a trial of starcraft II

ENGTX470/G/2DI/1280MD5- Free StarCraft II Experience Coupon
- ASUS Exclusive Voltage Tweak Technology for up to 50% performance
- Interactive application "Design Garage" & "Supersonic Sled" bundled for real-time GPU test drive!.

and the other version does not come with the starcraft II trial

ENGTX470/2DI/1280MD5- ASUS Exclusive Voltage Tweak Technology for up to 50% performance
- Interactive application "Design Garage" & "Supersonic Sled" bundled for real-time GPU test drive!
- Extreme gaming satisfaction demonstrated by DirectX 11!

Edit: i was using the uk Asus site but i have just been on the #Global' asus site and found the V2

ENGTX470/2DI/1280MD5/V2- ASUS Exclusive Voltage Tweak Technology for up to 50% performance
- Interactive application "Design Garage" & "Supersonic Sled" bundled for real-time GPU test drive!

Which means i am still none the wiser as it does not mention any improvements over V1 and niether does google up to now

Thanks for that ;)

Had no idea they did V1 and V2's until I saw them on Overclockers lol.

Found out I have a V2, yeeeeeeah haha. Dont know what difference that makes mind :P

Im at 1087mV and have a clock of 825/1650.
Temps are at 83C and gpu usage has been steady at 85-96% for the last 36 hrs, need to move the card as it is the top card in an multi gpu rig so temps could probably drop 10C if I move it.
If it stays stable until tomorrow, I will go for 850/1700, but only if I move the card and get the temps to drop a bit
Not bad for an OCUK value range card...

98% Fan Speedddddddd? That must be loud as hell!

Mines at 1087mV 850MHz Core 1700MHz Shader (I think) and 1700MHz Memory.

With a custom fan profile is barely audiable until obviously when you open a game :)

Are those clocks stable in occt with the GPU test and error check on?

Good chance they are - mine does upto 850 at 1.087 - I run it at 800 tho as 850 @ 1.087 is just enough to make the GPU fan audiable over the normal case noise level.

0.975, furmark and EVGA OC Scanner (similiar to furmark and kombuster but seems a little better at detecting low level artifacts).
