Hi guys. Looking for a bit of advice.
I went for a interview for job at a retail chain and after the interview got made a full time job offer. They asked if I could hand my notice in straight away as they were desperate for people, I also was given a start date. Less than a week before I'm due to start the manager has phoned up and she has had to withdraw the offer because it sounds like HR over-ruled her and wouldn't let a full timer start (apparantly it must have come to their attention once they tried to process my paper work). The problem been that I am now going to be out of a job after handing in my notice at their request. The store manager said she's going to "try her very best" to get the desision over turned on monday by someone higher up but in the mean time there is a very real posibility I will be left without a job on Tuesday. Can they do this to me? I unfortunatly never signed a contract but the job offer was made without stipulation and accepted by me.
