*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

1.087v i can run 925/1850/2200 all stable...

Any more than that it re-sets. Gpu temp is hitting 84.c and the fan is going mental......

I think i will call it a day on the clocking and get back to trying to like mafia...

Erm guys sorry if this is a stupid question, i am on my 4th glass of wine now after having been playing Mafia for a couple of hours. I just went into Afterburner while i was having a cig break and for some reason i decided to play with the voltage slider (don't ask lol). Now here's the thing, i have read that the max voltage for these cards is 1.087v, but my slider goes all the way up to 1.213v

Is this normal? I don't want to hit apply in case i just insta-nuke the VRM's. I am assuming that if 1.087v was the max, then the slider would stop there, or that would simply be the value at the end of the slider.

Before I flashed my card with the bios that unlocks the fan and voltage, I could do as you say, push the slider all the way up to 1.21V, however, after pressing "apply", it would only go to the bios limit of 1.087V.

That is an impressive clock, a keeper for sure. I can't get near that on mine without pushing the voltage way higher than I would be comfortable with.

When i push mine to far the driver just re-sets.. Not seen a bsod...?

yea i tried 3 times even with the gfx under 0 load it bsod if i tried to apply 810 clocks.
my gigabyte oc card ups to 1.000 voltage at default clocks when its under load so i tried 1.010 voltage and it still bsod....

made the jump to 1.050 because its classed as safe and i couldnt be bothered baby steps with a bsod everytime.

it was stable at 810 with v1.050 so i tried pushing the core up by 10mhz each time and got upto 850 with no artifacts and gave up as F1 qualifying is about to start.

i only hiy 70c @ 80% fan so i guess i should be happy with that

Got my Gigabyte 460 OC (1Gb version) the other day and have to say it is very quiet! Much quieter than my Sapphire 4870 512Mb.

Card runs brilliantly! Very pleased with it. I was a bit nervous as this is my first Nvidia card since the Geforce 2 days.

Me too been Ati for years, I was a bit worried how the Nvidia card would work with my Amd system. So far i have been pleasently supprised...:)

I am going to buy a new card in the morning I think, this will be my first new PC component in a long time, it will replace my GTX260 which has served well and is in the MM for sale so head on over if anyone is interested :)

I'm going to get:
ASUS GeForce GTX 460 Direct CU Top 1GB DDR5 Dual DVI HDMI PCI Express - Retail - With StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Trial Game Voucher
775MHz Core, 1550MHz Shader Clock, 768MB 4000MHz GDDR5 Memory, 336 Processors Cores, SLi Ready, Direct X 11 Support, 3 Year Warranty.

Review: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/asus_geforce_gtx_460_1gb_directcu/1

Anyone see anything wrong with this upgrade?

First thing I am going to do is play some BC 2 LOL.

Had been sort of thinking about doing this myself. But from everything I've read (a lot) I don't think I would see "that much" difference from upgrading my 260 GTX to a 460 GTX (even if OCing it). Certainly not enough to justify the upgrade.

Think I shall wait and see what info. from ATI starts to appear in Oct/Nov about the next gen cards.

Another thing to consider and it even says that in the article you point to. Is that at the price point of the Asus 460 GTX, you could pick up a 5850. And fair enough the ASUS card is probably equivalent to a stock 5850. But as said many, many times already on this thread.... an OCed 5850 will out perform an OCed 460 GTX.

Though I can still see why someone would want one. Maybe if you just fancy a change, or your current card is FUBAR.

We live in interesting times, as the Chinese are want to say.

Ok I;ve picked mine up today BUT the card is sporting black cooler, not the blue one whihc I was expecting (as it's the Asis Top edition 1GB. Here's the Top version:

Here's mine:

However, GPU reports 32 ROPS but my clocks are not at the rated 775 for the Top, is this correct or do they ramp up ingame or something?

Looks to me like you've been sent the "standard" card and NOT the TOP version.

PS. The box does not look right either to me (IE. if it's supposed to be the TOP version).

Does the standard version have 32rops instead of 24 for Asus?

I picked the card up so can hassle the store tomorrow :)

I just did the same. Been with ATI (AMD ) for years but got fed up with driver issues. Had a 4870X2 but heat, noise and not being able to install after the 10.5 drivers ended my affair with them. Got the Gigabyte 460 1gig OC and it is fast quiet and now i can play Mafia with Physx :) ... Sorry ATI but Nvidia won me back

All 1GB GTX460's are 32 ROP cards. Only one picture is showing up in your post for me, but it definitely sounds like you've been given the non-TOP version.

Did you buy from OcUK? If so they only sell the standard DirectCU version.

I bought it from a competitor, walked in and bought for £186 which I felt was pretty good value!

I played some BC2 just now with the card at the Top clocks, it appears the card does not flinch a muscle at those clocks either which is good I guess as this could save me a drive to the store again!

Played at 4xFSAA 16xAF in DX11 (HBAO off) I was getting from 40fps to 70 de[ending on what was going down but the whole thing was smooth - much better than the GTX260 I had before which would pull the same frames in DX9 with no FSAA or AF :p

I've not unlocked the voltage option yet in Afterburner, will only do that if the clocks appear to be unstable but I think the DirectCU version of this card handles the clocks just fine as it is.
