*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

Is this why I find I'm capped at 50 fps in COH?
How do you set this up then?

yes your actually running at 1080/50hz in game not at 60 hz so when your refresh rate locked you max at 50!

u need to go to your desktop, right click, nvidia control panel

select change resolution

customize

create custom resolution

make it 1080p, test then accept.. then make sure its ticked now on the previous screen and selected on the screen before that.

voila now u have 1080p in games and in windows.

Why have some people got i7s that will do 4.0ghz at 1.25 volts and then others need 1.35 volts?

Why does one of my cards do 880mhz out of the box and the other 850mhz?

The max overclock is based on the GPU ofc, however component quality on the cards can improve stability to et you there, reduce temperatures, and also *eliminate whining noise*.

Better coolers and non whining components are nice to have.

Just like when you overclock a CPU, the motherboard quality can help that a lot, but not if you have a bad CPU.

The graphics card PCB is like your computers motherboard - higher quality PCB, and also better cooling help towards making the best of the GPU / CPU.

Erm guys sorry if this is a stupid question, i am on my 4th glass of wine now after having been playing Mafia for a couple of hours. I just went into Afterburner while i was having a cig break and for some reason i decided to play with the voltage slider (don't ask lol). Now here's the thing, i have read that the max voltage for these cards is 1.087v, but my slider goes all the way up to 1.213v

Is this normal? I don't want to hit apply in case i just insta-nuke the VRM's. I am assuming that if 1.087v was the max, then the slider would stop there, or that would simply be the value at the end of the slider.

From what I can gather 1.1v is generally regarded as the highest "safe" voltage. nVidia bins them upto 1.075v IIRC not sure where the 1.087v originated from but probably the highest for people who can't afford to take a chance at all.

i tried ocing my card earlier and i went from 715> 800 fine

i tried 810 but got a bsod as soon as i hit apply so that means i hit the oc limit for my card without a voltage tweak?

Yes thats right. Almost everyone thats overclocking these past 800 mhz is increasing the voltages.

Try giving it 1v i can get 880/1769/2200 on just 1v.. Temp max,s at 80.c and the fan is a bit noisy but stable..

WHat is weird is if i increase the voltage a bit more and go to 900 my temps actually come down...

Damn you, you got like the best possible GPU on a Palit !!!

This is after running Furmark for 15mins max 81.c

900/1800/2200 @ 1v......max temp 81.c fan sounds like a jet.... :-)..

Still notice no difference in games at these clocks so all a bit pointless to me but hey ho...
