Tell me about the LeonCupra R

I have an S3, so pretty similar.

I used to have a Celica GT-Four and went to the S3 for a bit more refinement. I'm not sure how the LCR compares to the S3 for that but my Audi deffo doesn't scream out to be ragged and chucked around like you'd assume a hot hatch to do - the exhaust note is kinda quiet so you just notice the speedo rising rather than getting a shove in the back like I did with my Celica.

Suits me down to the ground though, I get roughly 28mpg combined with the S3 (heavier with quattro) and on a run from Brighton to Coventry I averaged 37mpg.

Once my next major service is done (4000 miles time) I'm going to put a couple subtle mods on it and do a basic stage 1 remap (260hp).

I have a LCR

Very nice car.

Like all cars - They do have a 'few' common problems though...

The last problem I've experienced is with the cooling fans. (the slow speed stops working)

However, there is a cheap and easy fix for this problem, as opposed to replacing the fans themselves, which will cost a couple of hundred at least.

cooling fans is a relatively easy fix, (control module under the passenger side inner wing iirc i paid 60 quid from the dealers for the module.

brakes- bloody expensive for front discs and pads funny funny money for decent quality parts iirc i was £350 trade for genuine discs/pads

calipers will fade/flake- easy to redo them though(guide on SCN)

Water leaks, you will have a leak at some point they all do - Door seals are a common favourite and easily fixed also watch for leaks around the pollen filter and on the bulkhead, also quite common.

mods wise it looks pretty much complete :) and your now looking at alternative turbo options :) either a hybrid K4 for 300 horses or a big turbo kit (expensive)

enjoy the sub 25mpg fuel economy and the urge to make progress everywhere, plenty torque makes it addictive :)

kudos on the liquid Gauge, love mine to bits. might be worth checking with Jim at race diagnostics if you have the latest software(he updates FOC)

mine :)

bill wise i've had nothing go wrong in 3 years bar the fan module (not even a coil pack )

servicing has been routine which is relatively cheap brakes are the only really expensive bill you will have

any questions jsut fire them up theres a good few of us on here with LCRS

Pretty quick in a straight line easy to remap and all that crap, but very dull engine, and cabin, and it's just a bland car all round IMO.:D

ooft you couldnt be further for the truth,

the cabin may be dark but its not dull, seats are fantastic and its not just quick in a straight line. a good condition example is one of the better handling fwd platforms and with a few tweaks in the right places they are fantastic on the twisties. and anything that makes as much power and torque as a stock/tweaked lcr can hardly be called dull.

Agreed, undoubtedly quick but dull as dishwater if they are anything like the 225 TT I've been driving recently. At least that has a lovely interior though.

HID conversion? Didnt know these had projectors? Plus 8000k!? Isnt that all chavvy blue and no real light output?!

nope never came with hids as an option either :( so no projectors either you can however buy a set of "aftermarket" projector lights from ebay :)

I think there very much the same, this seems quite refined :) I got 36 mpg all the way back from Manchester to surrey last night.

The guy changed the fans last year apparently

The brakes are going to need some attention, i get a bit of a judder when under hard braking but my mates focus RS does exactly the same. I wonder if its just something to do with these calipers ? They looks brand new mind you, i think they have had a repaint and some new stickers recently.

The HID's are an aftermarket thing and they are white rather than blue :)

Ive had a few cars, Clio trophy / VX220 Turbo / Racing puma / Subaru STI and this is far from boring and "dull". To be fair mine has front / rear anti roll bars and better suspension but it handles very well and i actually really like the interior. Engine wise it provides loads of torque and power and sounds fantastic with the full exhaust system ... I would describe a Kia Cee'd as a dull as dishwater car not this Seat Leon ;)

My first high powered FWD car, i must admit this takes a little getting used to. Wheelspin in 3rd in the wet can be interesting ...

Sam :)

my god... misguided much?

my old s4 was well beyond your powerlevel and that was very dull

Not a fan of the tints, mirror covers or the badge on the front grille, but it does look pretty good with the black rims.
It'd be interesting to see what the results are on an RR.

Enjoy it, excellent car.

cant say mine has any judder but i'm running <6 month old factory discs and pads which i did funniy enough change due to disc wear/juddering if it needs discs budget for a bum feeling,

alternatively speak to bill at badger5 about his 2piece units :) he can also supply drilled/grooved stuff at decent prices too.

calipers are an easy freshen up normally its just the laquer peels and its just a quick rub down and laquer they need.

How doyou rate it compared to your previous (and rather excellent) cars?

Good, prefer the scoob but this is a lot cheaper to buy and to run ... It seems a good car but i need a bit more time with it before i can comment properly.

No tints mate pictures must just be misleading, i hate cosmetically changing cars most of the time but im fond of the mirror covers and i didn't know the badge on the front wasn't standard  I love 5 minutes from surrey RR so will chuck it on soon.
