Woke up this morning to go to work and decided I better have a shave as my face looks like wild man borneo. Grabbed my electric razor/shaver and its totally gubbed so going to need a new one. Not looking for anything to expensive just something to get the most of my bum fluff off.

Electric shavers, DE razors and MACH3 TURBO OMG options are very different.

What do you want to do, how often, how precisely, and what do you want to spend?

If you're after another electric one, I'd recommend the Braun range. I've struggled with skin complaints and was recommended to avoid wet shaving. The Philips I had previous caused irritation, the Braun Series 3 340-3WD I have now is great - I got it half price in boots last Christmas.

There are foil shavers, with a flat end, or rotary shavers, with three spinners. I have used both, and find they both produce similar results (altho rotary is probably slightly closer). Rotary is more likely to cause skin irritation, but I am the type who was initially susceptible to this irritation but quite quickly overcame it. Using a rotary shaver has had an effect on my skin which makes me look older, more defined, more manly - rather than a babyfaced kid. It will turn your bumfluff into proper facial hair.

This is what I have:

I find it essential to apply aftershave balm after a shave, I use this:

Well I bought this from Argos yesterday used it and its total crap. Problem is now that I have used it I doubt I can’t take it back as its a hygiene issue I would imagine. Seems like that’s £50 down the drain :(

for electrics Braun are unbeatable and phillishaves are the best for rotarys (which i find kinder to skin).

Looks like a 50quid lesson there though :(

I just use an el cheapo hair trimmer with no head on it, it's so cheap that the top shears are plastic :D

Works ok though, just makes a heck of a mess in the sink

Well it didn’t exactly cut and its wasn’t pretty uncomfortable on my face, far proffered my old open blade type thing like what bledd is explaining. I went straight out and bought gillette wet razor.

Just annoyed at having spent £50 on something I am not going to use now :(

Yeah I tried that and it felt like it was ripping my hair out my face rather than cutting it :(
