*****Official Mafia II Thread*****

Ditto.

They've already done that without any moaning. Your point is completely invalid.

no my point was with the next one or any future games, if it's successful and people enjoy that game for what it is and not for what they think should also be included free of charge (even though it's clearly extra content) then there's a better chance with mafia 3 it'll be done quicker, done better, and give more.

if i was in charge of what 2kgames make next, and i see that when trying to make even more content for the fans that a lot of them end up moaning about how it should be free and they end up pirating it i wouldn't bother next time.

Except they haven't tried to make more content for the fans, they have taken content out off the game and are selling it back to the customers as DLC.

Can someone please link to the mod that unlocks the rest of the menu/missions?

(You can link it because it's already on the disc I bought and there for I own it, I just need to access it ala mod)

except this is just a guess, you have no clue if it was originally developed as part of the main content or if it was something extra 2k decided to make, and lets say it was developed as the main content, you also have no clue as to why it was then removed. do you know how much the game cost 2k games? do you know anything about what has really gone on to make this game? do you know what their plans are with this and future dlc and future games based on the sales of this dlc?

why does that mean you own the content on the disc? why aren't you copying and selling the game if you now own all the content on the disc? we aren't talking about rocket science here people

Activision syndrome.

Cut out features. Tell players it's better that way. Idiots stand up for company who obviously doesn't give a damn about them.

Sell features in future expansion packs, tell customers they're idiots for not wanting them before. Idiots buy it and are thankful for getting 'new' features.

you do know none of them work properly?

only free ride works properly and then you're better off using Costa's mod which doesn't unlock the missions

The disc is mine, I paid for it. The content on the disc also belongs to me, not in lisence but in physicality. Therefor I should be able to access all content on the disc after purchasing it, not be blocked from it and have it sold back to me despite having already purchased it.

If you bought a shirt and then tried it on only to find someone has stitched up the left arm hole and then wanted to charge you for unstitching it, you'd tell them where to go - because you've bought the shirt and the left sleeve is included in your purchase.

A far out example, but valid none the less.

So playing devil's advocate here, do you think that everyone who owns the basic version of Windows 7 has the right to Ultimate, since it all comes on the disc?

I am ****ed about content being pulled from Mafia 2 as well, but i don't think that entitles me to pirate anything, i just won't buy any 2K games again.

No because you know what you're paying for when you pay the basic edition price and are told what you're getting.
However, were you sold windows basic edition under the premise you were getting everything and then told you should fork out extra for features that still fall under basic edition weeks later, that are already on disc but blocked, then that wouldn't be acceptable.

This game is different from versions of windows 7 though, because there aren't 3 versions of the game - one as released, one with jimmys vendetta which costs 10 quid more, and one with jimmy+whatever that costs 10 quid more again - for example.
There's one version which has had content purposely removed from it to be resold increasing profit.

no it's not a valid example at all! you knew what you were getting when you bought the disc (if you didn't that's your fault, no one else's so you can't claim ignorance as an excuse) just as a user knew what they were getting when they bought windows 7 basic; features that are on the disc but not assessable as they were purposely built to charge more, so only customers who paid for the extras can get them. the extra content has never been sold to you then removed so you do not own it until they buy it!

if you don't believe me then wait until someone posts a link and see how long it lasts (unless the rules have recently been changed), or have a look if the content is there for you when you install the game. it's not because you don't own it yet. as said this is not rocket science, this shouldn't need to be explained to anyone

doesnt alter the fact the misions they showed at e3 arent even in the game

How is it ignorance being shown gameplay/ingame footage in interviews etc. that didn't make it into the final game? It isn't, it's selling something under the pretense of it being something else. It's not the same as 'knowing' what you get on windows 7, because what you get in windows 7 is listed on the back of the box. The list of missions is not on the back of the mafia box, nor is there a disclaimer telling the consumer that content shown as in the game previously has now been removed.

The physical media is on the disc. All the content is on the disc. I have bought the disc, the content on said disc should be accessible by me.

As you say, not rocket science.
