****** OcUK Starcraft II Tournament Entry Thread ******

I can stream. The problem is I only have 1 monitor so it's hard for me to setup the stream - I need a patient person to tell me how the stream looks and if it's laggy while I fiddle with the settings. :p

Sounds good. I'll happily keep an eye on the stream for you while it's running. Might be a pain to stream your own games though.

bump! MOAR PLAYERS!

and Sadform, we still need some games :)

EDIT: only one zerg player :(

LOL Indie is the only zerg. Hopefully there won't be too many mirror matchups though, they suck. :(

Where's Krono?

PvT is an entertaining matchup though so it should be ok. :p

Sweet idea,

I am platinum league terran player, would love to join this event.

name's Sphinx, how do I find my identifier number?

Edit: thanks Indie, character code is 311

Sphinx 311

Ah just realised I will be going away for a couple of days during the next week. I'll tell for sure when I get all the info, wouldn't want to miss this

Hover over your avatar in the main menu.

Still deciding if my zerg play is up to tournament standards! Probably will join up closer to the tournament :)

Just a suggestion, but I think it would be a good idea to provisionally rank everyone and spread everyone across groups and/or playoff tree (whatever the correct name for that is). Not give everyone a rank number per say, but spread everyone about by what ladder they are in. So all the diamonds aren't grouped together and similarly all the bronze. Then if you go with the double elimination format that's already been suggested with no group stage, this will give a chance for the less skilled players to play against people of a similar skill level in the losers' bracket, assuming they lose in the winners’ bracket. This will also keep the tournament interesting for the higher skilled players. If there is going to be a group stage, it will give players a chance to play against players of a variety of skills as well.

Sounds a very good idea, a lot of work but i think it would be worth it :)

It shouldn't be that much extra work. If everyone says what league they play in, slots can be made in each group/stage of the grid for the number of diamonds players we have, gold, silver etc so it's as spread out as possible. Then a random draw can be done for each set of players to be placed in the slots already allocated for each league. For example, if we only have two diamond players, make sure if they meet, it's as late in the tournament as possible. :)

Double elimination is quite simple as well. Everyone plays at least two sets of matches regardless of how they do. The final will consist of the winners of both the winners' and losers' brackets. The winner from the losers' bracket though will have to win twice as many matches to make it fair as they have already lost a match. So let’s say a final match is best of three maps. The person from the winners’ bracket would only have to win one set of three, i.e. two maps. If the person from the losers' bracket wins the first set, they would have to go on to win another set as well to win the tournament.

Double elimination is quite common in the competitive gaming scene. It would probably be easier to Google it if you're not sure how it works and if my explanation didn't help. :p
