OH NOES! He bought a DIESEL!

You can always get it mapped when you get bored, give it a new lease of life.
 
I've been doing some research and I think I will go for the remap in the spring once I've de-flapped it.
Any extra money is going on sorting the stereo first. It's not awful, but it isn't good either. Luckily It doesn't have any of the optional dsp stuff so sorting it out will be fairly straight forward. New components (probably the oe L7 drivers actually), a couple of subs in the boot and a 5 channel amp should see it sorted.
 
Apparantly it has a revised version of the flaps that are more reliable but they are still prone to failure.
Better safe than sorry.

Sounds very good to me, I wouldn't have had that down as a diesel sound at all. I do think a lot of diesel criticism is exaggerated, particularly in cars of this sort. I heard a diesel Merc E-class (think it was a 350cdi) pull off from a junction a few weeks ago, and I'm not joking but you couldn't even hear the engine. Granted it wasn't being booted, but it was whisper quiet.
 
That's a lot of car for 15k.

I looked at a sub 10k 730d back in February but didn't fancy the repair bills when things go wrong.

Diesel is the fuel of the future and petrol is down there with instant coffee. Revolting stuff.

Are you 'trying' to start a forum war or something? ...I drink instant coffee anyway, it's fine. Tea is the real connoisseur drink, coffee is just a brown afternoon pick me up :p

Instant coffee is utter savagery my good man. ;)

Pico Duarte coffee is a must as is a cup of Assam with a splash of milk in the afternoon.

And yes, I am starting a war. :p
