Pro Evolution 2011

If its as good as it potentially looks I might be interested in getting it, but I do like FIFA.

FIFA 09 was great I thought, FIFA 10 was good in regards of the proper 360 dribbling but I don't think it added much more to the game apart from the online club mode which is excellent, if full of bugs which I hope will be patched in 11. The reason why I'm so interested in PES is that it looks like a more realistic game of footie than FIFA, I do love FIFA, especially online but I think they will have to start concentrating more on content, especially offline content if they want to keep me coming back year after year because upon reflection the only thing that has made FIFA worth the £30 I paid for it is the social aspect of the online and the amount of laughs we've had with the club. The single player modes have been an absolute afterthought.

I've noticed a few things in that last vid that may irk me a little, but I'll wait till the demo tomorrow before I pass final judgement.

Ahh yes, I forgot the demo was out tomorrow for + Subscribers. That will be a good gauge and it might even decide if I buy the game or not. If I'm less than impressed then I'll probably rent it instead and see if the full version varies from the demo. FIFA will be a 100% purchase though if only for club.

This should be good, I can't help but think that the tool which lets you link successive tricks together will become a little overpowered. :)
I expect that to be game breaking online if its too easy to link tricks (hopefully theres some 'combo' timing involved)...

Yes those are my concerns too. It looks as if you just press one button and it executes all of those moves, definitely a game breaker online if used properly. I think FIFA has got skills right in terms of the stick, the crap players just concede possession and the players who put a lot of time into learning it, like that guy on YouTube get real results, although the best skill is to just be a good passer in my opinion. That said, if I do get this it will be mainly for the offline modes, let's see what the demo is like tomorrow.

It'll be the same for everyone. The ability is there for all if you put the effort into learning it.

While I agree to an extent I also think that online lag will have a big part to play. There's a difference between pressing one button to activate a string of 4 or 5 tricks and having to use the Skill Stick to do one move at a time. I think this will be a way overpowered tool for online play but I suppose we'll just have to see. Seeing as I've only just gotten my arse out of bed I think I'll go download the demo now.

You don't activate them all with one button from what I can see, but rather can queue up different types of feints one after the other, so to use them in a row ingame like shown in the trailer would require great timing and a lot of luck for them to be the correct feint to use.

From the video that you posted it looks like you choose a list of moves that you want to queue and then you press L1 and up on the analogue stick to perform each move, if that's how it is implemented into the full game then I think that's a bit overkill to be honest. Holding a shoulder button and just nudging up on the analogue stick 4 times to do 3 stepovers and a flick is just too easy. Also, no demo yet on the store for some reason, I read on the official European Playstation blog that there was a problem whereby if you used the search box then the demo was there, but the storefront hadn't been updated yet. That isn't the case for me, when I search PES or PES 2011 I can download a video and that's all, I guess it just hasn't been updated yet.

Yep, just tried searching for it too.

I'll try again in an hour or two, like I said earlier there seems to be lots of conflicting information in regards to when the store is updated, probably due to all the different timezones in Europe. What I don't understand is that the official blog speaks as if there was a problem earlier on which has now been resolved, even though I can't see the demo anywhere.

Try this to get the demo :

Edit ----

Sometimes the link doesn't respond ...

Playstation Plus Subscribers can access the demo for PES2011 as of now by just following these few simple steps :

- Go to System Settings on the XMB dash.

- Select Automatic Download and set to on.

- Follow the on screen instructions. Make sure you select the 2hr time time window that you are currently in when setting up.

- Switch off the PS3 and restart. Ensure Automatic login is enabled in your profile just in case.

- You will be advised that content is currently downloading. Have a wee look at Download Management and you should see the demo is downloading.

Please be advised this was tested on a UK PSN account. If you are overseas this function might not work as yet but be patient.

I'll try setting the automatic downloading now. Mine is currently set for 4-6AM.

:)

EDIT: It appears to be automatically downloading something, I'll check back shortly to see if it's the PES demo, if it is then thanks a lot mate.
