Quite fed up with my mundane job of scanning transparencies and cleaning them up, there's never really much variation and we're not even selling many images so the whole process feels a little pointless.

I've convinced myself there are jobs out there more rewarding and have more purpose than effectively being just a computer operator with an expensive scanner.

Is anyone stuck in the same rut?

At the moment i'd be happy i most jobs, i hate not working.

I was happy in my previous job for the most part eventhough it wasn't particularly well paid.

You kind of need to say what you did to make the thread worthwhile.

nope especially since i've been reallocated elsewhere in my business doing work I don't enjoy. Oh well its only until April (at the earliest :()

I wouldn’t say I’m happy but not hating my job at the same time. I want to find that magic job one day that keeps me really happy, has great pay plus benefits and good people to work with who socialise. But the reality is that you have to be really lucky to have a job that ticks all the boxes and anyone that has a job like this you’re a lucky **** and I hate you all :D

Mine really wasn't bad, worked for a small housing company and while it was a busy and stressful job there was a lot variation. One day I would be wearing combats and dirty T-shirt cleaning out leaves from guttering and next wearing a suit attending meetings. I also had a lot of freedom in how I did my job, as long as it was all done right at the end of the day there would be no questions asked from management.

EDIT: Left because I decided to go back into education, just starting second year of my degree now.

Im very up and down with my job, if its busy and interesting and i've got projects going on I can't wait to get to work, but I've just spent the past 2 months with no more than a few hours work each day while we wait for our lastest software pack to be completed, that might sound cool but it's dull as ****!

Overall I enjoy it - I suppose every job will suck sometimes, Im lucky I live 5 minutes from the office, I get to travel to different hospitals around the country a lot and I have a stunning view from my office window which helps with the day dreaming on quiet days :P

ive never been happy in my job (13yrs) for sainsburys - when i say that to people they always say oh you must like it thier then my answer is NO its a job at the end of the day and just pays bills.
3/10 i guess

I used to be, Knubje, Ciphon and Eulogy will varify this as we worked at the same place doing the same roles before moving on :p

On my 4 weeks notice period I logged in late on to the phone system and was told to go home and not do the remaining 2 weeks. they were anal about logging in exactly on the dot, not even 3 seconds late.

Right now tough my job is excellent, I actually feel positive on the drive to work (apart from the lazy-arse drivers who can't drive properly!), I take maybe 3 calls from colleagues a day about issues that are quickly solved. the remainder of my time is spent in RnD for the IT systems here and administering the network.

I've also managed to pimp my photo work too and am now shooting marketing materials for the company to which I am expecting to get paid too \m/

Like wise old people would say, have some patience because good things will come :)

I really enjoy mine, working in film is great and means every projects is different, alas it is definitely not the industry to get in if your after an early retirement it seems!

work is ftl,i hate it,easier money to be made than a job, even if some weeks aren't as good as others,i suppose the only + of a job is guaranteed payment every friday or whenever u get paid.

I'm sort of in the same boat. Was forced to becoming a freelance web designer (After completing my degree) as companies will not take you on unless you have at least 2-3 years of experience. I love designing and building websites and I am more than capable of doing so, it's just the lack of work that bothers me.

It's like there is a giant 2 ton snow ball at the top of a mountain and I have to figure a way to get that thing rolling.

Not ranting, but have you tried finding a job recently?

Yes, and I dislike my job but it pays the bills. I'm training and applying for a new job, if I really hated it enough I could find any old bar job temporarily or something.

Fair enough if you're stuck in a job and can't find anything but some people do complain and not do anything.

I don't honestly know what else to even contemplate. The purpose of the thread was to see what other people do and what makes them happy.
