I'm not bothered what type it is, as long as it's a PS3. Would you buy a second hand one? Does a second one provide significant cost savings?

The main thing id say be careful of is bust disk drives. Ive tested more than one of them from work, and the majority of the bust ones turn on fines etc, but wont read anything you put into the drive.
I bought my second hand 40GB PS3 and works perfectly and I think I only paid around £80 or 90 from the bay.
I would never buy a console 2nd hand, I just don't trust other people.
When my launch PS3 died I went out and bought a new Slim, much quieter and guarantee.
