Hi guys, as per title. Im using Windows 7 x64. I get to the starting windows icon on boot and it hangs there for a good 30secs at least. My WD drive booted far faster than this :(

I have it set it AHCI mode before I installed windows so its not that.

Any ideas of things I could try?

Along with setting it to AHCI have you installed the Intel Rapid Storage driver? as opposed to using the standard MS one.

Yeah, just tried that after I posted that. Seems to have done the trick ;). Boot timer claims my boot is now 12.7 secs. Much more like it :D

No, I didnt expect it to help much either. But the hanging around at the Windows logo is pretty much gone, and that was properly doing my head in as I knew it should'nt be like that.

Only annoying thing left is now that my BIOS is set for AHCI mode, it loads that setting on POST, which takes maybe 10 seconds, which is kinda annoying!

Really funny that did the trick considering it runs as a service. But still good if it's sorted!

I too hate the 10 second post where it scans the devices :(

You can disable IDE drive searching in the bios if you don't have any floppy drive or IDE drive connected.. Save you some boot times.
