Aion & patch 2.0 thoughts?

i havnt played aion since its launch so im really out the loop to the changes thats happened. ive seen the new patch released though and wondering how the game is now? :cool:
 
Games really gone downhill, avoid. No end game content, even more grindy, massive faction imbalances and ncwest's usual terrible handling
 
I started a new toon on Perento, pigeon side for 2.0 and have to say it's been great, it feels like the original Aion release day with tons of new players, lots of groups and what seems like too many quests !!

In only a few days I managed to hit lvl 23 and it's still interesting, overall yes I like it.

So, 5 new levels and then what? Nothing to do again. The game is still a grind regardless of how quick it is.

hard to say, Aion 2.0 seems fun for now and there have been a lot of great improvements (depending on what side of the fence your on). Hit level 23 and seem to have a nice flow of kinah and tons and tons of quests to persue. I haven't had to grind any mobs or area's to reach the next level, something of which I did have to do on previous characters! XP has been boosted so for the more casual players they will get anything upto 70% extra to help them along(depending on levels).

it's fun, but then I've never tried the Eylos side past lvl 10 so it 'feels' like a new MMo with plenty to do, Perento has balance and a healthy amount of new and old players... I'd say sub for a month and see if its to your liking, there will always be those who say its great and those who say its nyerk! so judge for yourself ..

In any MMo, once you hit level cap you always run out of 'new' things to do surely Aion is no difference? there's a lot of new PvP content, crafting and loot but I suppose if PvP isnt your thang then problems will occur.

Not really, 3 end games dungeons is pathetic, games like EQ2, AoC, WoW and others can have dozens.

Oh nice insult, I play Darkfall, so I think I stand on the higher ground when it comes to telling people to go back to theme park MMOs

like I said they all run out of new things to do at endgame, some want to run the same instances and dungeons over and over whilst others prefer to PvP. In Aion you have the same choice but its far more PvP orientated and with the new free update/expansion you have more levels, more instances and a whole new ground based PvP area for no additional cost. I'm certainly not saying the game is the best and has everything, it's definately had more than it's fair share of problems but 2.0 at least adds more to the game.

Even though I doubt I will get into a new MMO right now, I would like to try a trial of Aion too. Shame I havent found one yet.
 
I think current players can issue trial invites, but it's shockingly limited, I think it's only three days, bugger all chat access and it ends before you get your wings.

If you want one, email my trust, but jut warning you in advance what to expect ;)
 
Ive resubed tonight just downloading the updates,the 2.0 update has made the game so much better i believe after reading around the net,looking forward to playing later
