OK I can't take it any more * Ford 1.4 TDCI tuning help*

I cant really find much about this ? Is it like the 300zx TT trick of fitting a mig tip in the bleed pipe ?

LOL its a joke from the Peugeot 306 Dturbo whereby you could turn the boost up literally by turning a screw in the engine bay

Hence "screw mod"

You mean a bleed valve, done this on a couple Renault turbo's back in the day. I doubt this will be possible.

i would get that tuning box and maybe fit an intercooler and then just drive it. bit more power to overtake blah blah and still good economy.

No? Bug one is always so serious. There must be some mistake.

LOL

He's caught on remarkably quick for somebody who thought we were referring to a 300ZX lol.

Ah the powers of google. If only he'd used it before typing in the first place ......

Take a dump before you get in the car and you will go just as much faster as you would messing about with tuning it.

I have nothing worthwhile to say, just go buy a 4 figure re-programmable ECU, pay someone to tune it and then afterwards you can go have a cry in a corner when you are thousands down in a car still as slow with no warranty. (Oh and shut up about technicalities, the warranty is gone - end of discussion)

Motec on a diesel?

Petrol injection maps and injection systems are massively crude compared to multiple stage diesel injection calibrations on high pressure injections. Some have 7 seperate stages to control fuel delivery before and during the combustion stage.

What is interesting is that non of you petrolheads even picked up on this. :p

I'm no expert on Motec ECU's like some of the other members seem to be, so bare with me as I'm going out on a limb here, But I think it safe to say if a stock ECU could control the injection side of things a Motec one could be set up to do a better job.

If you care about your warranty then leave it as it is. If you really want more power then buy something more powerful.
If you don't care about your warranty, then get either remap or a piggyback ecu, but this will yield limited gains, so you may as well just buy something more powerful. A ford specific forum would definitely have more people with experience in this area so you'd be better off posting there if you're determined to tune your car.

How is this thread half way through its second page when it's as simple as that?

No it can't. A Motec just earths a wire to make an injector fire, this is fine on a petrol as fuel is hosed in and the spark plug takes care of timing and the fuel is left to burn on its own

Diesel calibrations take months as the combustion is controlled via both quantity and timing of of the delivered fuel which also delivered in several stages. Diesels dont have an air throttle for a start so the fuel is what controls output.

I do wonder how people automatically assume some guy with Crude ECU like Myotec think they can do a job as good as a major OEM with thousands of man hours and millions in development on getting an engine running right.

Maaaaate, if your serious, and not her for a windup you should heed initial advice.

Do NOT bother wasting a penny or any more time considering how to make a 1.4 diesel any faster, Its likely to be the worst money you will ever spend

If its too slow sell it, buy something else that isnt. There are shed loads of 2l oil burners out there, jizzing money up the wall on "tuning" a 1.4 isnt something any sane person would do, ever!
