OK I can't take it any more * Ford 1.4 TDCI tuning help*

I just though with the availability of cheppo plug and drive ECU mods more people would have had experience with them and could give some insight in to the brands.

I never expected the tuning of a small diesel to frowned upon so much, it kind of funny.

I'm thinking of maybe a Motec programmable ECU, a custom exhaust / air filter and a decent remap should make huge difference

Okay.

I'm not quoting my first post again. If your struggling with the thread I'm sorry :)

You've been given your options, I don't know what else you want from the thread? I'm struggling to understand why someone who is so concerned about warranty wants to stick a silly tuning box on a car when you can just get a more powerful version of what you already have?

Motec on a diesel?

Petrol injection maps and injection systems are massively crude compared to multiple stage diesel injection calibrations on high pressure injections. Some have 7 seperate stages to control fuel delivery before and during the combustion stage.

What is interesting is that non of you petrolheads even picked up on this. :p

I was going to touch on this in my last point, but honestly I could not be bothered wasting anymore of my time.

This thread is stupid and the OP is being an idiot.

What he is purposing to do is so off of the retarded scale it is not even worth getting worked up about.

I sincerely hope that this guy is a troll, or my faith in humanity has taken one hell of a tumble :(.

It's because everyone on here is running on the principle that tuning a small engine will be really expensive and very unfruitful. This is usually true.

It may well not be true of your engine (you have yet to offer any evidence though). People on a ford-specific forum are much more likely to know than people in the motors-subforum of a computer forum.

Idiot, I only replied cause I was bored and tried educating you.

In other news I have a nice resistor you can fit - this will give you 20hp. Cause you seem a nice guy Ill let you have it for £200

My bad.

Just wondering - How does someone shopping for a C36 AMG end up trying to tune a Fiesta (?) 1.4TDCI?

You have a 300bhp Merc, yet you are chasing power from a 67bhp diesel engine?

Why would you stick a MoTec on a FiFi and NOT a 300bhp Merc?

Because he's a madman who bought a little diesel box to do motorway miles in for the mpgzzz only to discover that it's dog slow and in need of more power.

P.S. Please can you let me know which EMS's you've worked with in the past, what the pro's and cons were for each of them and why you think MoTec would be applicable in this instance?

Also, I'm in the market for a wideband so that I can tinker with the map on my clapped out old Mitsu. Can you recommend one to me with reasons for your choice?

This thread makes even less sense than it did yesterday. Seriously, WTF. If you must try and polish your turd, get a bluefin.

Otherwise, radical suggestion, sell it and buy something else? You ignored my question about what yours is (age, mileage, spec etc) so cant be any more helpful than repeating the common sense option ad nauseum

The money he is likely to allocate tuning a 1.4 derv would probably make up for the MPG difference if he just drove a petrol Merc all the time.
