OK I can't take it any more * Ford 1.4 TDCI tuning help*

The money he is likely to allocate tuning a 1.4 derv would probably make up for the MPG difference if he just drove a petrol Merc all the time.

Not even close TBH. The little diesel has saved me a fortune in a few ways. I haven't come back to it to find half a lamp post sticking out of the window yet, or needed to have the car recovered because some ****** has stabbed the tyres.

Anyway thanks for the help LOL. I think I'll get the three most popular plug ins have a play around with them and keep the one that seems the best.

Might even bring it to the next OcUK rolling road day :p

I'd actually quite like to hear what results you get from the money you spend, so please do let us know.

OK will do. I'll probably do it over on the TDUK forum, but I'll make sure to send you a PM :)

Will do. But why's that BTW ?

Cheers very much, but why not just post a thread here? I'm sure everyone would love to be proved wrong ;)

Check the returns because you don't want to be landed with three devices when you only need one...

Some companies such as Bluefin offer a 7 day satisfaction based returns policy (Assuming you reload the base map back on). You cannot re-sell them once you used it however.

I don't know whether other companies have strict returns policies on the basis that you could load and return hence get the product for free but it would not surprise me.

I think you should have bought a lupo 3l for a diesel commuter
Its more economical faster and argueably FAR cooler

Seriously if you spend massive amounts of dollar on a 1.4 td your and idiot PURELY because ford have all ready made faster cars for you , the 1.25 petrol 1.4 and 1.6 petrols too and also the fiesta st and a 1.6 td

See now if you want to upgrade a car rule of thumb is to get the best model first because it makes massive sense

Let me put it to you this way
I had a fiesta 1.25 and wished it was faster
The best route to upgrade a 1.25 is get a puma 1.7 throttle body and air filter and exhaust with decat

All of these things probly costs about 500-600 then you would need the car to be mapped for the mods which isnt cheap. Call it 700 quid then yeah?
Then theres the additional cost of insurance which im not 100% on but what i can tell you is the 1.25 makes 75hp and people who do those mods get about 87hp however the 1.4 is 90hp AND revs higher AND is standard..
Also for me the 1.25 was 730 quid a year to insure the 1.4? 850

I think its abundantly clear what the better decision would be there.. If you had a 1.4 and did the same mods you might see 100hp plus but then theres a zetec-s for that which was only 1000 a year insurance
I Hope ive made my point, theres always a better base car really. Tbh do one of the followong ir nothing else

1.if you want a diesel runabout that is properly moddable and pretty quick get a 1.9td 306 and nothing else

2. If you want a diesel primarily cos they do good mpg get a lupo3l/ a2tdi

3. If you just want a faster fiesta BUY A FASTER ONE thats why Ford gives you a choice in engine size.

REMEMBER: the costs of mods and additional insurance is almost ALWAYS more than the cost of buying a better model and then insuring that

What i did was buy a 306 gti6 in the end the car was 900 on top of the sell of my fiesta and insurance was 650 more

HOWEVER i gained a car with ZERO rust
92hp extra, leather seats , electric bits, better handling, braking, motorway economy( im not joking)
And so on
Make the right decision or your an absolute IDIOT
This advice may seem harsh but its for your own good

It makes complete sense now, when the overwhelming majority tell you to change car rather than waste your time with a tuning box, the completely logical thing is to buy 3 of them.

Nice thread. This is the same guy who went bonkers at me when I told him that Group 19 wasn't high for an AMG Mercedes.

Seems like an 18 yearold living in a Fast & the Furious fantasy world to me.

Your advice is useless. It is in no way cheaper for someone to upgrade a newer fiesta to a higher model than spend £400 on a remap. Maybe on your old motor, but this guy's motor is less than 3 years old - the cost of changing will be quite significant.

You should ensure you're giving accurate advice before calling someone else an idiot.

As someone who is currently selling a lass than 3 year old Fiesta and has a done a bit of research into the current market - I can assure you the cost of changing is not significant.

The second one has done double the mileage and is a 57 plate when the first one is on a 58 plate. Different spec's as well (Style and Zetec).

Not exactly the same?

Yes but it is cheaper and has a much better spec. I just done it as a quick indication. It can be done.

Cost for gain, not just cost, the gain of the Bluefin on the 1.4 and what ever gain it acheives VS the cost of changing and whatever gain that achieves plus the fact that you could modify the higher end model for even more gain in the future. It might cost more to change but the gain might be signifcantly more worth it.

In all honesty, I dont think he knows what he wants
