LOTRO now free to play!

the pando media downloader is a bit pants though, never maxed out my connection, im not fussed playing on american servers usually get a ping of about 140 which is decent enough for a mmo, nice that my account was already on premium since i was in the beta but no Tp though :(

Yeah I wouldnt use the downloader, get the client from somewhere like gamershell instead, WAY faster.

I think i'd sooner player runescape then warhammer judging on what I played through beta and first month of release and then i tryed for another month about 6 months later. The dev's are just clueless and so was that moronic company that was put in charge of the EU side. MY god mythic really did show the EU how little they cared. Though I hear mythic took over the EU side. To me though they already ruined it by shafting us all constantly.#

Really annoying, was probably one of the few games that I was actually extremely hyped up for and couldn't wait to play.

Currently Codemaster's have activated A welcome Back week which will run till Free 2 Play in Europe goes live. All old accounts/trial accounts are re-activated.

Codemaster's will also host a few server events as well as a way of saying sorry for the delay.

New Accounts can still be made and any new trial account WILL BE CONVERTED to a free 2 play account when it goes live :P.

Free 2 Play means just that you can technically pay for free and purchase whatever content packs you wish. You can earn points by completing deeds etc so technically you can buy the content for free.

Europe Launch is hopefully by the end of September so download the trial www.lotro-europe.com :)

A full marketing launch will happen as well.

Lotro already has a lot of content incoming so FYI.

2011 still has slated the isengard expansion which will see the timeline of when Saurman has turned evil and started to amass his forces.

A new instance cluster with raid is in the works.

New Hobby is in the works and many new changes as well.
 
Keep in mind folks, there's an OcUK kinship on Laurelin. It's the only English RP server on the European side that I remember, but RP is by no means esential - it just means the community's a bt more mature than otherwise found, though with the F2P intro there's bound to be an influx of unpleasant kiddie gamers. Tempted to get back in myself, but I need to work on my attention span really.
 
Was in the beta for the free to play bit and to be honest I couldn't really see what had been changed since I played the game at launch. World still seems to be devoid of any real character and the crafting system was still bobbins. At least leveling was a bit faster and slightly more fun.

Hi Buddy,

The main alterations since launch is towards mid-endgame especially instances/skirmishes/legendary item system and class systems. I'm not sure how you can saw the world is devoid of character as the landmasses are breathless. At low level its to kick you off with the story but Free2Play brings old instances into scaled mode i.e Great Barrows has a scaled mode that you can do etc.
 
How on earth can you call the world devoid of character!!??

Downloading currently, they've missed a trick here and should have developed a streaming client like Everquest2 has now.
