Volunteers can now apply for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Olympics organisers will recruit up to 70,000 general volunteers in what they say is the UK's biggest post-war volunteer recruitment campaign.

Roles available to volunteers will range from ticket inspectors to uniform distributors.

Volunteers can apply for the positions from 0800 BST on Wednesday until 27 October.

I would have loved to do something but I live too far away. :(

You stand more of a chance to be knocked down and killed by a runaway bus then by being harmed by terrorists. ;)

maybe, i was jokling though lol.

although there has been "threats" regarding the olympics. i suppose there is everyday.

im finding it hard enough to get a job, let alone doing it for free. :(

There was a big huff earlier, because so many jobs were promised to be had because of the Olympics but as most of it is being brought in as volunteer work peeps were starting to cry that is was only going to hurt London lols.

They dress it all up but at the end of the day...

I guess some busybody people will want to sign up and brag how they helped in the crappy Olympics.

Why are they busybodys? Why do you think this is a negative thing? People want to be part of something big, something that everyone should be proud of. Why wouldn't you want to be part of that?
