LOTRO now free to play!

It's not so much how make stuff that was my complaint more that I was at a loss as to how I was supposed to go up to the next tier. There seemed to be no explanation that I could find in game so had to resort to outside sources. Personally I felt this was rather pointlessly obtuse.

Perhaps its been changed, I dont remember, but all I did to get to the next tier was talk to the crafting trainer again and he had a quest to do to raise up to the next tier (like The Path to Learning or the Heart of Wood quests). I found it easy without needing outside sources, I dont remember how it was ages ago, maybe back then the trainer didnt have the quests, but now I found it straightforward enough.
 
anyone whos thinking about palying on US servers wont be able to play properly because of the time difference. 7 hours i think it is. will be hard to find players to group with

Its not all that long a wait til the Euro f2p anyway, the date I heard was the 25th Sept weekend which is only a couple of weeks away, not long to wait.
 
it was meant for the 10th but apparently theyre dishing out free weeks, disguised as welcome back weeks so it should still work for now?
(i reinstalled the client but i have an old account and it was active this week, not sure abotu brand new F2P accounts though)
 
I download off 1 of the other servers and its volume 2 mines of moria :( will i still be able to use the f2p or not or do i need to re download vol1 ?

see what it does aftr youve installed the one youve downloaded. try logging in etc with your F2P account.
the one youve got may just be an updated version or something :cool:
 
Mines of Moria is the first expansion pack, it raised the level cap and opened up the mines for exploration. Shadows of Angmar was the first game, but I'm not sure how it all works with the F2P model.
 
Same as they beta i tried was called mines of moria, but you needed to buy the expansion pack from the store to unlock it, but the profile that loads when i play the F2P version says Shadows of angamr * shows on the lcd of my G15
 
Free to play is pretty much just a extended trial, you get nothing but the starter area, and cant do much. For Lotro its more a gimmick than true free to play ( Yes I play the game on a life time sub) well stopped bout 3 months ago
 
You get all areas you just cant pick up any quests, im currently lvl 20 with just doing deeds in the starter area, shire and Bree got quite a few tp as you get 5 for the 30 slayer kills and 10 for the 60.

You will find the trial very limiting, but don't get me wrong Lotro is a far better game than what people think, crappy PvP but a really smooth PvE mmo with a pretty decent community and fun end content
