HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

Is it just me that has issues sending messages? I have A LOT of "message not sent" errors and they keep retrying until done.

I think the last 2 weeks it has got worse, not sure if its my phone or Orange themselves but its getting quite annoying.

I also get quite a few changes between signal strengths as well 3g/G/E/H what ever it is so not sure if its a change between these that causes the message to fail.
 
Just smoother running i guess and does eat at the battery more.

I've just had low signal issues, I had message's not sending with previous roms
 
What is going on with Orange and the Hero?! I've set mine forward (date) and still it is sitting on 1.5. I cba to mess around updating it myself, I'm paying them to worry about that sort of thing! Next time I'm going to look at CarPhone Warehouse instead of going to Orange direct....

Did you do the update in january?
Mine didnt work when i got rid of the custom ROM and put the original one back on it.
 
Has anyone successfully managed to get HTC Sync to work with their Hero, on Windows 7 32bit? I've tried using the Vista 32bit drivers, but still will not sync. I have no idea what i am doing wrong. I want the 2.1 Update or at least a custom ROM.

Can anybody help?


EDIT; Managed to get it to Sync, however, i attempt to run fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img in CMD Prompt whilst my Hero is in Fastboot but i receive FAILED <remote: not allow>

Can anyone shed some light??

Yep I have, what custom rom are you using? Some of them don't work with HTC Sync but to be honest, it's pants. Even the new version! ;)

Regards to the remote: not allowed issue, the hboot has been locked, but your better of flashing the recovery via other methods. You may want to join XDA forums for these sort of issues.

Thanks for the reply, mate. Currently I'm using the stock 1.5 Firmware, I'm on Orange UK and never used the RUU to update to 2.1. However, now i have the Sync working, i am downloading the 2.1 RUU and if that installs, I'll be happy with that! I heard 2.1 is a big improvement.

I've been reading in regards to my error message and it seems, as you said i have a Perfected SPL which has locked my hboot. Can you elaborate on the other methods of flashing? Is flashrec one of the alternative methods?

Ok..wtf! I just went through the RUU Process for installing 2.1 (or at least i thought) using _HTC Hero_RUU_Hero_Orange_UK_2.73.61.5_release_signed_NoDriver - but i am still sat at Firmware 1.5.

What the hell am i doing wrong?

Thats not 2.1 RUU, it's the 1.5 RUU for Orange. What I suggest you do to get to 2.1 WWE is the following.

Create a Golcard and then on the 1.5 ROM you have now,
Use flashrec to get a
Recovery ROM installed,
Use the unlocked SPL via update.zip in recovery method and then
Install the 1.5 WWE ROM.
You will receive the update 1, install, then update 2, install via OTA.

Thanks man. I managed to get the 2.1 ROM on the phone. It's pretty cool. Is it worth me trying to install some of the custom ROM's floating about?

Most of the custom ROMs do have issues but your best off asking over at XDA forums. I have went back n forth with genuine WWE, to genuine providor ROM to custom ROMS and I tend to find the ones that work best are the legit ROMS direct from the providors. It's up to you at the end of the day but be prepared for problems and could break the phone.
 
Ive been out of the loop for a while and i see everyone on orange has upgraded to 2.1 , im still on 1.5 how do i go about upgrading?

Got the latest rom upgrade has sorted it.
