My wife got some petrol this afternoon at 12:27pm from Tesco and she used the Pay At Pump.

She only filled up with £10.01p (Yes, I know!) and paid with a Visa Debit card from Santander.

The money still hasn't come out of the bank and I was wondering how long it normaly takes? (She has the receipt).

(I did notice they took £1.00p but I guess this is to verify the card)

I'm with natwest too.

It takes a couple of days to show up, but it will have been taken into account already - e.g. it might show as £600 in account, but you have £589.99 available to take into account the £10.01 that is going to come out.

Typically, the balance will not update for a few days, but the Available Funds (or equivalent) should update pretty quickly.

(the £22.92p is £9.90p for another transaction, £2 for Tesco Home Delivery to verify the card, £1 I guess is to verify the card for the petrol).

A couple days like stated. There's a notice on the pumps at my local Asda that say if its a Solo card and less than £20 is taken from the pumps it may take a couple more days on top.

Its a good job its not in Motors a few people would be outraged telling you that you should not be driving if you cant afford to fill up every time. Its usually by those that live with mummy but thats for another thread.

in the past it usually takes 2-3 working days but I am with natwest

I have never been able to use the pay at pump at Tesco. For some reason they always have a problem with my card. Walk inside and hen card works every time.

Ah reason I didn't fill up to the top is that my car is up for sale - I just need enough petrol to get to East Midlands Airport and back. No point filling up the tank for the benefit of someone else really! (being a cheapskate probably has a bit to do with it too)
