As it seems mighty high, I dont have any experience with most of these parts, so dont know what the hell to check

1) Driver side headlamp kicking out an offside pattern

2) Nearside shock absorber leaking

3) Rear tracking arm bushes need replacing

4) Offside front wishbone bush needs replacing

5) Offside front prop strut mount

Parts & Labour - £300

:(

Are they going to replace the bushes or just replace the parts? Sometimes it's quicker/easier to change say the wishbone instead of faffing about with bushes.

Doesn't sound like too bad a price really. Maybe a bit on the high side but unless you know someone who can do it I think it'll be hard to find someone much cheaper - could always ring around though.

very reasonable

ie i think youre about to get ripped off

the parts arnt overly dear. rear beam bushes are about £10 each. same for front bushes

rear damper... £40 at a push and youll want a pair, so £80

sounds like you need a new headlamp... £50 at least plus bumper off to fit

wtf is a prop strut?

i think theyre having you on

rear beam bushes are about 2 hours normally. its a PITA to do.

£300 all in yes

The driver side headlamp was replaced by myself last year when I cracked the inside of the old one, it went through the MOT the following day no problems at all, so if its chucking out the wrong pattern, im thinking it could be something like a misaligned bulb inside or something, thats what the MOT tested thought it could be.

i really dont know about the other bits as its not parts iv looked at in the past, iv dealt with brakes, servicing and my biggest DIY job replacing my real coil springs.

Which equates to about £80 for the labour in itself.

If that's £300 all in, it's a good price.

thats no labour for front headlight (bumper off) or the damper or the front bushes

so youre expecting new bushes on the rear beam then all the other parts in the glovebox??

something dodgy about that price

Which equates to about £80 for the labour in itself.

If that's £300 all in, it's a good price.

i do a fair bit of work on golfs "on the side" for seriously knocked down rates but £300 for all that, fitted, blows me well out of the water. (but then i would replace both dampers at the rear and bushes on both sides at the front)

damper £40 (youd be mad or a total ***** not to do it in pairs)

headlamp £50-£60 for a cheapo one. £80 or £110 for a valeo one.

£30 for Lemforder rear bushes. again, youd have to be mad to put anythign less on

££15 for front pair. again, youd have to be nuts....

round figures, £180-£190 for parts, including consumables.

and then there is the mystery prop mount..

£100 left for labour.

2hrs for rear.

1.5 for front pair.

prolly 1hr for headlight and THEN the mystery prop thing

rear damper, theyll add 0.5 to transfer the top mount, if they dont, a new top mount just eats into their labour

Be a man and do it yourself.:D

I would in most cases, but the car hasnt got an MOT, and I need it ASAP for work.

I simply ont have the time, iv got a busy week as it is.

I phoned one of my mates garages who is a good realible one, only reason I didnt take it to him is because its not near work, and its a 2 week waiting list usually to get it done there as they are constantly busy and booked up.

Anyway he said that including labour, the price isnt going to be far off, he recons about £240-£300 depending on garage

The headlamp can more less be adjusted I recon, the garage said that aswel

Price is ok but get BOTH sides done for front bushes, they're prone to fail so easier get both sides done like Matt says, maybe new balljoints etc too?
