Is this the same i-series that used to be in Coventry? If it is it's gone down hill big time.

Used to take my sons till it moved and it was massive back then.

I'm sure i40 was hosted back at Newbury Race Course?

If so that's why it doesn't look as a good as everyone isn't in the same room.

Looks like it was in a double garage TBH, bin bags on the walls an all

Very amateurish and not what i thought this event would look like :(

you know the systems at iseries, do you take your own, or they provided?

BYOPC :)

gizmoy2k.
Those aren't walls, if it's the location I think it is, that is a large window wall/window doors overlooking the race course - if they aren't covered they let a lot of light in during the day (making it impossible to see the screens), as the windows have no blinds, rails or similar the only economical way to block the light is tarps or plastic sheeting (it can be taped up fairly easily, and removed without causing any damage, and doesn't take a lot of room in the vans). IIRC the "wall" is about 40 or 50 foot long and about 7-8 foot high, broken into several sets of glass doors/very large window panes, and there is another set at the other end of the room (to all intents and purposes it's a huge window).
I remember when I was going the complaints about the "light" were quite loud at times, so it's not pretty, but it's functional and practical ;)

Likewise the tables are probably the only practical ones to use - the race course doesn't provide them. and i think they used to hire them from a specialist supplier, hence they have to be easily transportable, and easy to put up, although from memory the tables were quite beefy, they just looked fairly rubbish (they were collapsible which gives them a certain look, but they were sturdy).

My god im glad i dont go to them places you all look miserable in them pics.

Possibly the effect of 2-3 days of little/no sleep, too much booze and the stuff that the locals call "food".
When I was going, it reached the point where it was much better to pop down to the local supermarket and get cold food, or possibly a breakfast at Sainsburys/Tesco than it was to risk the pizza from the big chain franchise that delivered (and the race course's own food was best described as over priced, "edible" and reasonably unlikely to poison you).

I used to quite enjoy the LAN's, but they became impractical for me to get to.

It's nice to know some thing never change, when I was going there was always a few machines that required new heatsinks/rebuilds at some point over the weekend :p

Point is if it was backed and supported those walls would have sponsors and proper covers all over em,

OR hold the event in a more suitable location, so every one is together an there is an atmosphere, considering the money multiplay make on server rentals it looks a bit sparse

I just thought it would look a little more organised, i have never attended one, have tought about it recently, but those pics are hardly an advert

However theres always rent a "devil" ;)

IIRC they do have sponsors etc.

However, it's sensible (if you're planning on running it for a long time), not to become too reliant on sponsors, as if they pull out, will you be able to go on?

I should have some pics from when I went, taken in daylight which would give an idea of the size of the venue, but can't find them (which is annoying me now, as it means they're not in the correct folders:p).

I think pretty much all of us apart from goon despised the camera.

I look miserable as **** on all them photos but probably more down to the fact I was concentrating.

In all honesty it was one of the best weekends away for pure fun and laughs. The games were such an insignificant part of it its hard to explain.

Spent majority of time playing football/drinking or both.

Those pics dont convey the atmosphere remotely, just the little cubby hole TFU were in.

The majority of the seats in the two floors of the grandstand were set in thirty (plus?) rows of twelve. Everyone in one massive room.
