I sent a friend a birthday gift, worth about £25, first class. It never arrived. It wasn't insured or anything so I don't think I have a leg to stand on, but I rarely use the PO so though it was worth popping a quick question on here.

Can I do anything about it? Might have the receipt somewhere.

Not true.

But unless you can find the proof of posting, then no.
Well like on the recorded delivery on site it says compensation upto £41 and special delivery is like £2.5k. While normal postage says nothing

And if it's not recorded, tracked then where's the proof of it not being delivered

i've seen threads on forums from people that have made claims in the past and it took more than 30 days and in the end all they got given was a sheet of 1st class postage stamps and was told that Royalmail does not give cash unless special delivery was used.

I got cash.

I know what my reaction would be to that, and I work for the crooks. :D

"A sheet of first class stamps! What. So you lose all the items I post with these on 'em too!?"
