"Hardly anyone plays fps on the pc"

I played FPS on mine last night

And the night before

And the night before

And for the last 15 years

I have no intention of buying a crappy little box with dated technology and playing sub standard games with thumb sticks thank you very much

Goldeneye 64 was the first truly awesome console FPS I remember. Both are great games.

M&KB is still my preferred platform, but I wouldn't miss out on gaming greats in some cross-platform boycott.

I was gaming on my PC last night as well. The consoles are still far more popular though. In a world this big when someone says "hardly anyone" it usually refers to quite a few people but they are a small minority. If we say hardly anyone is over 100 then it's true but at the same time, there are plenty of people who are.

He is making the point that people are saying that kinect is a a less repsonsive control system than conventional control systems. He is making the quite fair comparison of this to when FPS games first started to move from the PC to the consoles. People said that it would never take off due to the control system but what started off as the underdog, over time became the platform of choice to the majority of people. That's his point. the sad part is, he isn't actually discussing the PC/console argument. he is referring to it as an example of a done and dusted past situation.

Not really, he said "hardly anyone" plays PC FPS and its simply not the case, its perfectly obvious its not the case in fact I wouldnt be surprised if more people play FPS on PC than they used to

PC gamers have always, always been the minority, you used to have to own a PC to experiance the majority of FPS titles so generally people were ignorant to it as not many people weere willing to or had the know how to pump so much money into a PC to experiance it, its become more popular because of the consoles and the people that play them on consoles are mostly ignorant to the fact that people have been playing FPS on PC for years and years

The first real fps for console was golden eye imo halo was up their for me in terms of 1 player and multiplayer fun.

After that halo became more hype and marketing then anything else the same way the call of duty series has gone.

It seems like the console market esspecily americans latch on to all the hype and marketing. Most americans i know have a xbox360 and play halo gears of war and mw2. So in terms of america i would actually belive more people play halo then pc shooters.

I think its slightly different in europe though. Also the pc user base is spread out over so many games its hard to track them all where i have found with console certain games become deserted and it becomes hard to get games online with them.

I doubt it, PCs last popular, mainstream phase was in the early-mid 2000's when it actually had exclusive general interest/FPS games

the people that play them on consoles are mostly ignorant to the fact that people have been playing FPS on PC for years and years

Probably. So?

Halo is great, but it is crying out for some fun on a piece of hardware that isn't 6 million years old. The game needs a new engine and a serious franchise update.

As for this moron, I'll keep my PC for FPS gaming thanks! Better controls and decent graphics for the win.

to be honest consoles are the future

fps are better on pcs but sales dictate what will happen and consoles will sell more games in general than pc.

just look at last few years and the fps games you are playing. they are console games. we are the minority .

its all money. if im honest i dont care as long as games good i can play with my friends online who cares what box is what. take the box out of the equation and you just have the game.thats all i want.

Thats a very passive way of looking at it...

Consoles may be where big name games can get the most money but i wager more games not by big name companies that get hype because of advertising budgets than there design decisions are bought on PC. Console gamers are sheep for the most part and don't recognise anything but hype. And really, Keyboard/Mouse are superior for the vast majority of the most popular games. RTS, FPS, certain types of RPG. Consoles are trying to offer more and more, i wouldn't be surprised if they eventually become a low quality gaming only pc with internet browsing software... because as the Xbox 360 proves they sure as hell are not more stable.

End of the day, i'm certainly not about to start playing FPSs on a console when i know damn well the controller sucks for it. If i wanted to handicap myself i'd shoot myself in the foot.

Meh, there are more FPS players on consoles in the same way that there are more people who play games on consoles.

Doesnt mean that the PC isnt a significant market, or that people who do play on PC somehow have a 'worse experience' or 'arent as good' as their console counterparts.

I'd argue it's the other way around, and that's why I still play on my PC
All that comments like that are liable to do is further harm the PC gaming industry and therefore a very significant potential portion of revenue for companies that make these games.

Great, let console gamers have their games, but don't forget there's a significant number of us who like playing on our mouse and keyboard too :)

Um yes they are?

Just because PC owners arent as fickle/forced into moving on. There are still many out there playing games from 10 years ago online with dedicated communities to hundred of old game still going strong. Just because PC owners dont 'all' keep buying the newest fps, no matter what genre its set in, doesnt mean we arent still playing fps. Console players are forced into moving on when the tech moves on and the next console is released - even the backwards compatible games are useless as the 12yr olds who dominate the market (quick generalisation there xD) with there quest for shiny wont play it when the new super shooty sparkle game is out so the online side fails.

My guess is hes not even looked at any stats, hes just thought 'halo was popular. i dont know much about pcs though, there was a game called quack or something that was popular but it was long time ago. halo wins'.
